Same at our place. Specific rules for weekend work including drivers are NOT to call Central for runs. But you know how that goes.
There are 4 extra Kettleman turns on Saturday. Specifically for P&D drivers so as not to use all the wild drivers. This has been a thing for a few years. But we're a break and still pretty busy.
My last terminal did something like that, the first time I sat and a city guy ran I bitched, next thing you know I was always working the weekend, funny how that works. As long as all the available wild/bid drivers are working or offered a run, then fair game. The only issue I have is doing this on a Friday night then no work Saturday night and maybe Sunday. The dispatchers need to pay attention. We have one that the week he is on, it seems real slow for some reason.....
Last Friday as I was waiting for paperwork, a city driver was asking for a line run for the weekend. The person that he asked had no control over line, but he was trying to get setup ahead of time. Finally told by line dispatch that he needed to sign the weekend sheet and if needed they would call. Which brings me to another point. City boys can come in and basically work when they want to fit their personal life. A line driver is held to a gate time. It’s happened before where city driver’s are ran over the top of schedule driver’s and we end up waiting because our freight is already gone. City driver’s if needed should get the crumbs that fall off the table. Not the long runs.
They do the same thing here on Fridays kissing up to M to set them up instead of doing the right thing and signing up and waiting for that phone to ring,.
City can run when they want, then they throw a holy itch fit when they have to wait on a line driver in herm to show up,,
Meanwhile a wild line driver runs the weekend told to start at some rediculous hour that throws their whole sleep cycle out of whack,, but city gets to come in at 3am on Saturday so they can get off early and watch their ugly offspring get balls throw at them in little league
Fly, you can thank your weak TM and HIS YES MAN "J". Neither have the guts to stop it cuz it might make someone not like them.. Those two need to be shown the door ASAP. As for Billy's Term, those days are now changed ..B& S & HR got with VP of Line and found out exactly how OD wants it done and thats how we are now going to run it. The message was also sent to PDX and were instructed to do your terminal the was they get the signup sheet. They can do PDX how they want but by passing line guys, wild or not they go first, period. After 2 weeks ago when one of us line guys got crapped on by dispatch, calls were made to Corp. to Mr. Morris and now tings should be ran like they are supposed to as far as our terminal is concerned. If PDX runs a city driver first, and does not follow the signup sheet, well, would not want to be the PDX TM or dispatcher that does it.
Outstanding!! At my place I notified and questioned the VP of Linehaul & VP of dispatch. Should’ve at least got paid for the wasted two hours of my time. Run your own xxxxx weekend freight then.Fly, you can thank your weak TM and HIS YES MAN "J". Neither have the guts to stop it cuz it might make someone not like them.. When I was on extra board I was always exhausted!!Billy, you guys have some screwed up rules, a city driver should not be able to run a line trip unless the extra board is exhausted.
As far as watching their kids play ball, you need to speak with Ump, about rescheduling game times.
Yep. July tournaments are the best when you have mom, dad, sisters, brothers, grandma, grandpa, watching, and the super dad with the big mouth yelling, his foot is out of the box. Even though it is only on the chalk...When I was on extra board I was always exhausted!!
And that game starts when I say it starts.. As far as I'm concerned the parents can drop their kids off and and go do something for a couple hours.. Everyone would have more fun!!

Yup.. During the regular season we hold coaches accountable for their fans behavior. Explain to him if he can't get them under control i don't really need him here. They usually are able to settle them down. But during tournaments I'm not that picky. I explain to the tournament director that if he can't get them under control the whole group can watch from the parking lot. My nickname was Moses. The fans from opposite teams were going at eachother. Sent both sides to the outfield fence past their respective dugout. The fans from the other fields said it like like I parted the red sea. Catcher asked if we could do this every game.Yep. I think you jumped a turn with the goats, a hat joke was next.Do you bring some of your goats to clean the outfield??
Don’t forget me on Fathers Day, Moses...
I'm having a new hat made for you... They said it should take about 12 years to complete.Do you bring some of your goats to clean the outfield??
