I meant to post this some time back, just never got around to it...

I had gone on the roundtable discussion board a few times and was able to get questions answered...I know that there is no anonymity there, but I figured that as long as one is respectful and decent, the conversation was dealt with there, would begin and end there.

When the new mandatory Cintas uniforms was enacted, I was trying to see if I could continue wearing my company store uniforms as the guys complained about the shirts being sweat-tents...they suck. Within a few hours, I received a text message on my phone from our operations manager:

"The new uniforms are mandatory, if you have a problem, come see me!'

That signalled the end of my roundtable participation.

Yeah, and don't for a minute think this board is not being watched by the company. As long as whatever you say is true they can go pound sand!

And your TM is an *******. I'd explain the skin irritation to my doctor and get a note stating that they were a health problem, THEN I'd go see the *******.

Well...sort of...threats of action have been made, the company can afford to lose a case but one of us cannot afford to win one. The key is in maintaining your anonymity.

I'm not "anonymous" ......they know I'm the steward at Greensburg Pa. Easy to find me......

That being said, I keep in mind everything I post is most definitely watched,.....so I post only the truth, or my stated opinion. Still legal to have an opinion.......so far.

I've filed a grievance on the uniforms, ...Art. 12 says American-made, Union vendor......."if possible"..........and of course it's possible......but the grievance was shot down on a point of order that said Mr. Johnson and Mr. Sweeton had approved ABF's uniform policy,.....without conditions. Wonderful........ let's "Bring Jobs Back To America" by having uniforms made in Honduras........

I have asked questions on InfoRoundtable that were apparently embarrassing.........because I either got a private response on my personal email,......or a direct phone call from a company official.......They sure don't like controversy over there..........

Which is why many more ABF employees post on this site instead of InfoRoundtable......
At least you get a chance to put your question/comment in front of other employees.......Someone might say :" Hey, I was thinking that very thing!"

The corporate world gets a little scared of the democratic process.....if they can't control it...........

That is my position, and it has served me very well. I made a decision long ago to never post online or send a letter that I wouldn't say in person...a lot of times you can tell when people have been drinking and they post...never a wise decision.

would we be disciplined and reprimanded...a few of my fellow workers know who I am..if it got back to the right people, would all of us be r'd and d'd?

I always thought R & D stood for "Research and Development?"
I guess @ Aye Bee Ffuh it stands for "Reprimanded and Disciplined" ?? LOL !

I believe if we were going to be disciplined for what we post on TB I would have been receiving warning letters all along. My ABF work shirts have HOMESICK directly underneath the IBT emblem on the right side chest. Directly opposit the ABF emblem. And I wore these shirts at the TDC here in Atlanta several times.

being disciplined for posts here would be constitutional. however agreeing to their terms on site.. not so much..AT work site is a work tool, an extension of our job.. carries same weight as insubordination, etc
