FedEx Freight | New Volvo, any centers got one yet?

Its was just that way the first year or 2 when the def first came out. Those problems have been fixed. Dove for a company prior that had a fleet of million mile plus volvos

Had nothing to do with DEF. Everything to do with injector cups. They kept cracking, leaking coolant into cylinders which destroys the rings.

If it got to that point you or your shop missed a lot of signs that there was a problem. Also the problem was still related to emission issues early in the design with ULSD and bio.

Has any SC or hub received this new model yet?

YRC has many rolling in the midwest.

TUP has one.

I recommend giving the LT a chance, guys. Despite not looking much more than superficially different from the ProStar they are much nicer trucks.

TFI deployed a whole bunch of them to the TL carriers they own, Highland just got theirs in last month. Company drivers say they're way better than the old ProStars. I've not driven one, but I did check one out, and I could definitely see the difference.

Don't knock it till you try it. The LT has won awards for quality that usually go to PACCAR.
PACCAR quality??? Now that's funny!!

The driver gets to pick whether they want a city unit or a road unit.
I pretty certain we no longer have that option either. City drivers get city award trucks. Was changed within the last few months. So, the only options left are choice of leather or cloth seat, and whether or not you want your name on the door.

Not sure what happens when they order the award truck replacement (5 years). Will they swap road for road, or downgrade to city unit? In that case, the option to keep the 5yr old truck remains, as far as I know.

Injector cups were a known issue on those engines, and expensive to fix. Had nothing to do with fuel, had everything to do with faulty design.

I drove one that lost the cups around 450,000mi. Dealer couldn't figure out what the problem was. Ended up asking the mechanics at TOL who had one in for the same problem, took it back to the dealer and told them to check the cups. 4/6 were gone. A few months after the repair the truck started acting weird again. I departed FedEx before bothering to take it in, but it's my understanding that the engine had to be done in that truck about 6 months later because the replacement driver just drove it till it broke. Contractor was a cheapass, got what he deserved.
