Must be an assignment of passion
It will be at Estes anyway. You know they aren’t going to make it worth a mans time to fool with those things. Did the pike ban Estes from triples after that fatality accident years ago?

I believe you can pull double 48’s from Buffalo all the way to Boston via i90. Does i90 in NY and mass not allow triples at all ?

No triples allowed. I've pulled turnpike doubles from Buffalo to Boston plenty of times. They pull nicer than pups. Just gotta be smart with the dollies as their very heavy. I've seen a few guys get their hands and fingers smashed.

Didn't that guy just get out of jail?

I think so. I read a long article about it and he’s in complete denial about his fault in the incident and it’s essentially ruined his relationship with family. That’s the nature of the beast that is this industry, one wrong move can ruin many lives and facets of lives. We are all only human, so far as I know anyway.

We probably read the same article, I just didn't recall the date of it. The guy sounds like a real asshat, the victims husband reached out to him and he wanted to blame it on the guys wife. I wish I could remember the guys name.

I recall the same article. I think it was on Estes forum and someone had linked to a news site. I looked back on Estes forum but couldn't find the thread.

Found it!
Trucker gets 5 years for fatal turnpike crash

A Hempfield Township man was sentenced Thursday to 5 years in prison for causing a fatal, eight-vehicle crash on the Ohio Turnpike.

Douglas S. Bouch, 49, of 125 Wasser Bridge Road, pleaded guilty Oct. 18 to charges of aggravated vehicular assault and vehicular assault in Portage County.

Bouch was driving a truck pulling three Estes box trailers eastbound in the late morning Aug. 16, 2010, near Streetsboro, when he fell asleep and the tractor read-ended a car driven by Susan Slattery of Cockeysville, Md., pushing her car into a tractor-trailer ahead of her, Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Bouch’s truck hit five more vehicles before slamming into a concrete barrier and catching on fire, according to Cleveland-area media outlets.

Three trucks and five smaller vehicles in total were involved.

Ms. Slattery was pronounced dead at the scene, and her sons, who were ages 16 and 12 at the time, suffered severe injuries. No one else was injured.

Firstly he admitted fault right away. I worked with him at Estes. Last guy you would have expected the accident from very clean record prior to accident. He is out of jail and works in a factory. Last I knew he struggled to even ride in a car little lone drive. I’m not sure he will ever drive a car again.

I know more details or accident that o can’t reveal here

Estes voluntarily quit pulling triples after accident across IN/OH.

I want to say again HE COMPLETELY ADMITTED FAULT, and did so immediately

Ah very well then. I’m not casting judgement on the fellow , we are all subject to making mistakes. Anyone that has been driving any length of time has nodded off whilst driving. Very unfortunate and I wish him and the ones affected by it nothing but the best from here out.

I think we are talking about 2 different people, I posted a different article than what I read by mistake. The article I read said The Ladies husband reached out to him and instead of being gracious he was pissed because he went to prison. I'm almost positive he worked for R&L.

Nope same guy same accident. Woman's husband did meet with him and it was tense. Written from woman's husband side. Estes driver view in article was if she hadn't passed him on right before getting to construction zone she wouldn't have been in front of him and wouldn't have died. He sounded like he got religion in prison in the article. Said it was gods plan for her. Talked about kids too in article.
He was also supposed to have been doing farm work all weekend and only had three or four hours of sleep. Article was long with a lot of detail.

It wasn’t farm work either. That ninja pundit article is written as here say. He said/she said very poorly written. The article has stuff taken out of context.

He didn’t find God in prison, he was a Christian previous to the accident.

The thing to take away here is that it could literally happen to anyone of us, and we could be defending ourselves in court. A bad decision to drive tired was made here. He was like 3 miles from the service plaza he always took his break at. If your tired pull over. Period.

““I can’t comprehend what the family is going through and I don’t have the words to describe how sorrowful I am,” Bouch said.”

“Outside court, Slattery said he had expected Bouch to be given probation. At best, he hoped it would be one or two years in prison. He said he would support an earlier release date. He also hopes that one day they can meet again and perhaps work together on a public awareness campaign on trucker safety.“

I had my ah ha moment about that when I was working for FedEx Freight and had the route that had all the prisons in it. I used to go to the medium security prison damn near daily. Going in there and getting to know the guards and the prison trusties that worked the dock, I found out that many of them were in fact truck drivers that made one mistake or another. Was an eye opener for me. Im a very law abiding guy but mistakes happen.
