Estes | What do you Love about working here? What do you Hate about working here?

Mr gearjammer dont believe these butter cup estes drivers they all say good things because their scared the bosses read these sites what you see everyday with your time at estes is the truth the help wanted at you answered was not too truthful
How much is a new drivers time spent as a dock worker at central. Estes drivers don't work the dock . City or linehaul . Maybe central drivers working 14 hours with dock work why salaries have gone up

Are people really trying to say Central even competes with working here? Our older trucks would at worst be central’s average truck. I know for a fact that our pay rate is a lot higher and the people that work for Estes are far friendlier than at central. Central is an entry level LTL company you get experience and leave the first chance you get to get on with a real LTL company, you have to put in your time in line haul at Estes usually years before you get a schedule, extra board is not for everyone sure but you will make over 90 without even trying.

Does Central pay by the hour every time they have a breakdown? That would explain how their road drivers could be doing what that guy says they are.

Estes is good to work for the paycheck. But the people no. Nine years there . The TM was horrible in your face yelling pointing his finger at you guy who expected nothing to matter in your life except doing what estes needed. Bleed yellow he called it. And the drivers were the biggest Back stabbers ever in city or linehaul. They wanted your truck your run and getting you fired to get it was what they would try to do. They would make up stuff you did and tell TM and dispatch . The money and not having to work dock is only reason to work there . City and linehaul they steal your time sitting no pay and in city making fillout those lunch sheets or they take a hour or more every day. Many times they want you skip lunch to make a pick up then expect you take the 30 minutes when they said go home or lose it.

Oh and the runs don't pay correct miles. We had one schedule was 17 miles off each way no matter how many drivers document it they refused to fix it. 32 miles lost every night to anyone who ran it. Adds up all year.

The free time spent waiting is the thing that I hate the most. If you ever feel like wasting 3 hours of your life I suggest trying to get down to Indy where they will gladly help you with that.
We had many days dispatch knew every run was over an hour late and wouldn't call anyone and say come in late. Just make us all come sit for free

That’s any big terminal in the east anymore. It’s down right depressing and mind dulling all the time I’ve wasted for no compensation here.

I just sat 15.5 hours in Charlotte. Did the NC shuffle. Ended up in Greensboro. Wanted me to go back to Charlotte. I said no thank you. Took my lil 405 miles and went to bed.

All these rules and regs about running a business its amazing that an employer can do this to employees no other profession would tolerate this

Some of the nemf drivers are not too happy here

I had it made at NEMF. 580 mile day linehaul turn. I’m not unhappy here. Sure the wait time at some of these places can suck, and I’ll be happier when I can a schedule run and off the extra board. I’m just happy I was able to go from the top of one place to the bottom here and make the same (most weeks more) money.

Not sure about other terminals, but of our 50+ drivers I only know of 2 or 3 that fit that description. Most guys were working somewhere or had something lined up within a few weeks.

During the wind down, our TM made phone calls to several LTL companies and had people from those companies come in and talk to everyone who wanted to listen about working for them.
