TForce | Will UPS Freight be hiring anytime soon.

I started at a different ltl 12 years ago at $17. Starting pay a different ltl 23 years ago was 14.50 17 to start is very old wage . They expect experience but pay to get new highschool graduate
The international ,teamsters agreed to that wage (sell-out). I argued against that proposal during negotiations but that didn't help. I expressed that due to the massive shortage of drivers nationally, UPS freight will be extremely hard to find experienced, quality drivers etc. SMDH. Well they shot themselves in the foot. I presently inform them that non-union carriers (LTL). starting wage is between ($22-$27) hr. Southern Region area.

It's definitely what kept me away. I cancelled my interview after the contract proposal last year didn't address the issue.

Face it. UPS is determined to make their part-time, low starting wage, and long progression work in freight like it does in small pak. They are know all, see all and the industry will conform to them. I see these young uns' with 30-40 years to go I feel a little sad. The generations of true freightmen is over, automatic tractors, collision avoidance and lane control devices only put drivers in the seat that might not really belong there... Give em' an old five speed Mack, no a/c, power steering or radio like most of us had at one time and most would clock and go to the house. Money buys skill and experience....

Do yourself a favor and apply to a different LTL company. This company is horrible they treat their employees like trash. The environment is very toxic between management and employees. Good money and benefits but the rules and policy they have are absolutely ridiculous. You can ask most of the workers and they'll tell you that they wished it was still Overnite. I always thought Ups was the job to have but things have changed big time.

UPS Freight will hire
no guantee you will work , 40hrs or drive 2500 miles
one way new driver can make good money
team up, run sleeper with high seniority driver Seniority bids runs and picks his partner.
But today, sleeper teams are few, long miles are in past.
my first 10 yrs was on wild sleeper, picked up my wife on 5th year.
We seen most of lower 48 states ,seen miles 5,000 to 7000 per week.
OverNite was family, work with you, if you worked for them.

All drivers at terminals with contractors can work the dock at 37.60 per hour if they don't get out. No one sits home unless they don't want to work. Best change in the new contract imo.
