R&L | New Terminal In Sanger Texas.

But linehaul doesn’t have those horrible lift gate deliveries and trailers being loaded almost completely backwards at times. Some guys just have to roll with it and can’t rework it at the terminal. Some TM’s really watch the “yard time” and don’t want to hear excuses. At SAIA you were expected to be off the yard in 30 minutes and that includes your pre-trip. They really want it in 20 minutes which is totally unrealistic. Total bull crap!
Well, considering a proper DOT pre trip should take a minimum of 30 minutes, how pray tell do they think you could do everything including the pre trip, in 20 minutes?

If true, they are officially scraping the bottom of the barrel. Please say it isn’t so! R+L isn’t just some scrub line. They can do better. They must do better. May need to take a look at some new recruitment tools. Replace some incompetent recruiters. Maybe big sign on bonuses... Maybe a change in some of the management staff. Things are off the rails in Sanger it appears.
Maybe offer company wide transfers to the area with no loss of seniority temporarily? And help with moving?

Unpossible.

Here at SAIA in Garland it’s called yard time. You have 20 minutes... 30 tops. It can’t be done and they are complete morons. It just gives them something else to harass the drivers about. I’m so glad I was financially able to retire early. So many aren’t so fortunate and are stuck in this hell hole.

Roadway use to have "out the gate in eight" for us city drivers. Once you were given your bills you had to be out of the yard in eight minutes. The supervisor would collect your bills, seal your trailer, and determine your first stop. You were not allowed to break the seal until that first stop.

So your pre-trip was either not done or done own your own time? You were at the complete mercy of the loader unless you loaded your own trailer? The good old days I suppose where straps didn’t exist and you had those old chain slide back doors.

This was Roadway Albuquerque back in the mid to late nineteen eighties. Check your water and oil, stick your fuel tank, hook and leave the yard. We were issued a thin piece of rebar type metal that was marked off in inches. I believe it was if you had five inches of fuel, you were good to go. You fueled at the end of the day.

Some of the road horses at CFCC and CF didn't even have fuel gauges.

Another week! Another update! Rumors of temp drivers is simply not true. 4 new drivers this week... The problem is DLS drivers traveling to SGR and returning back with half their freight from route. Hearing that dispatching these DLS drivers is becoming difficult in heavily freighted areas because dispatch can’t affectively give driver the PUs because of driver login issues. Silver bullets have returned and the week has definitely been the best one yet. Onwards and upwards

Side note- Pro labels have definitely been an issue with freight being labeled by both locations and being taken to the opposite
Well I do know for a fact Sanger WAS using temps 3 weeks ago and still pulling drivers from Dallas. Even now they have Dallas drivers there every day. They are the ones getting stuck picking up the slack for what's not handled by you guys. It's disgusting. I heard guys who lost their routes now get to go to Sanger and run their routes from there and return in the evening with pickup freight then back to Dallas. That's crap. By now that terminal should be fully staffed and handling everything north of 635 including their swaps. That being said the crap continues to rain on Dallas drivers to pick up the slack while Sanger guys go home at 8 and 9 hours.

That does suck. I bet the Dallas guys are probably hauling pups back and forth too.

FACT... you’re wrong! No temp drivers were ever used! Management failed to strong arm DLS drivers to the SGR terminal full-time. They called their bluff and handed in their two weeks... and due to this SGR didn’t have enough drivers on the opening day like they thought!

Another week! Another update! Your inside scoop. SGR is starting to take care of its own business. with only 4 DLS drivers making their way to the SGR terminal! At least 5 new P&D drivers and 2 Line haul drivers have been added in the past week-10 days! Upper management finally realized driver shortages is the root cause of the problems being faced. A million miles from perfection but daily improvements are being achieved. Silver bullets have been plentiful all being directed by a barking Ron E. on the other end of a phone line.
Let’s see what next week brings!

Let me give you some inside scoop. You can’t use full names like you did with Ron E. A moderator will edit it in the near future. Silly rule but it’s not my site. R+L will continue to experience massive turnover because they continue to hire OTR drivers and other inexperienced drivers and not seasoned LTL guys that know what LTL brings to the table. Not everyone is cut out to do LTL. The peddle routes have too many miles on them and delivery stops and not enough time to do them before the pickups start rolling in. The lift gate deliveries are too time consuming and very physically demanding especially in this Texas heat. They need more drivers to divide up the workload because most drivers don’t want to work 60 hours. This is one big cluster **** and will take them at least a year to help stop the bleeding. But keep drinking the kool aid ....... it suits you. Your new here and many think you’re a management plant. You’re doing a pretty good job in hiding it. Mixing a little positive with negative is a dead giveaway though. Daily improvements? What most see is one step forward and two steps back.
