Butch Lewis Bill sat in Committee 18 months and died quietly in 2018.

Richard Neal's copy of Butch Lewis sat in Committee since 1/9/2019 until two days ago. Passed out of Committee 26-18. It's only hope is an attachment to "Has to Pass" Omnibus Spending. I was sure it'd never move....

I have no idea what's actually happening, but an Omnibus Bill is being thrown together for August Voting...

The Democrats don't have time to deal with voting on legislation, they are too busy trying to impeach Trump. They don't care about us peasants.

When has Trump ever even mentioned the pension crisis? He does however support a national right to work law which means he is anti labor I don't understand how people are so gullible to believe that he is going to help us. Do you leave cookies and milk out for Santa Claus on Christmas eve

The president doesn’t write the laws. Congress and the Senate write laws. Trump has nothing to do with it.

Okay answer me this do you really think Trump would sign the Butch Lewis act if it was passed by both houses of the legislature and put on his desk.

I sure don't see Trump doing anything to help with the pension crisis.
That is Congress'job. Congress makes laws and the President signs them. Like I said the Democrats can't get legislation passed because they are too worried about what Trump is doing.

Yes, that bill is never going to pass in the Senate by itself. It is going to be packed into the Omnibus bill as pork from what I’ve been reading. If the senate passes it I think he will sign it.

Define anti labor.

I agree with half of what you posted. The dems Are spending all their time trying to impeach Trump. However, the dems seem to be the only ones writing bills to help people who are on the verge of losing their pensions; like Sherrod Brown. I have been royally b*tching out the repub rep and senators here about it. I no longer consider myself a repub but a conservative.

Hate to bring in politics, but a conservative can't be for a bailout from the government.
The Proposed legislation reads more like a “Loan” (with Interest) than a “Bailout” Jimmy. And BTW the Pension Funds’ Funds were used to continue to purchase Toxic Assets while the Housing Bubble was bursting which served to “bailout” Wall Street. So I’ll let them expand the word Conservative in this case!

It requires a new Government Agency to be set up, and funded with at least $30-$50 Billion. That IS a Bailout!!!!

To a Conservative, the job of the Federal Government is Defense, and to make the States play nice together, and little else. "He who governs least, governs Best." Central Government that controls everything (being The Decider, the Provider- small g god) comes from the Marxist Ten Tenets of Communism, written by Karl Marx in 1848. That's not Conservativism.

And yes, the bailout would help me in the CSPF. But I can't support it on principle.

I believe this is what P's me off so much. The bums on Wall Street did not do their fiduciary duty in investing our funds so let all that money go away. Meanwhile they get a pass and bailout. They were too big to fail IIRC. Aren't we bigger than Wall Street?

No we aren't.

I can go on for pages about how Andrew Cuomo of the Clinton Administration caused Zero Interest SubPrime loans by threatening discrimination suits caused the collapse. Every one of those loans was insured by law with AIG, and AIG plummeted when Lehman Bros had the rug pulled from under them.

I would have let it all fail, but that's me. And the car makers, too.

The only important thing to know now is- ten years ago CSPF had about 23 billion. Now, about 12.75-13 billion. 420,000 Teamsters. That $30,000 @ piece. Period. It's unsustainable. Just like most Pensions today...
