No. But it’s cost.Did they give a reason for stopping truck washing?

I don’t know, we still have a vendor wash our tractors and trailers about once a month. The wash bay attached to our shop has only been open two or three times this year. I think like some building maintenance and supply issues, it’s up to local management.Truck washes are suspended. Outside vendors at least. Not sure about barns with wash bays.
You may be right. When I asked when they were starting again, Tm said they suspended them.I don’t know, we still have a vendor wash our tractors and trailers about once a month. Not a ****ing chance. If its gonna be nice on Saturday morning I would bring my power washer to work with me after I got done dropping on sat morning I would scrub my truck down
I’ll scrub my personal vehicle down Saturday, not the company’s....If its gonna be nice on Saturday morning I would bring my power washer to work with me after I got done dropping on sat morning I would scrub my truck down
Same here they use the wash money for office worker lunchesBack a while ago, YRCW suspended washing by outside vendor. They sited that EPA regulations regarding the run off water as the reason. There might also be a problem with the wash bays at your facilities not being up to regulations regarding the waste water as well.
They stopped washing our equipment at my company as well for the same reason. Ironically the EPA was concerned with the phosphorous in the soap, not the oil, grease or crud on the equipmentBack a while ago, YRCW suspended washing by outside vendor. Last winter, after swiping out, I’d wash the salt off my tractor a couple of times. My scm caught me and asked me what I was doing. I told him that I was washing the salt off my tractor to make it last until my retirement. By the way, I told him, I’m off the clock. He smiled and walked away.If its gonna be nice on Saturday morning I would bring my power washer to work with me after I got done dropping on sat morning I would scrub my truck down
Just don’t get hurt while off the clock. That’s (one reason) why I won’t do that. You know the company won’t go to bat for you.Last winter, after swiping out, I’d wash the salt off my tractor a couple of times. My scm caught me and asked me what I was doing. I must be crazy!!!
When Jacobs but the company a big shot told me he was amazed how long Con-Way employees stayed . I always found that to be a tell all to his past experience with his companies. Our shop manager recently quit. Got a job running the off property shop we take our tractors too. The joke going around is that he wanted to work somewhere that they actually fixed our equipment. Good ::::. LOL Quality guy. Started as a driver. Got into management. Moved up and now has moved on. The race to the bottom continues.
We have a truck wash at our place. It's open one day a month. The stated reason is cost. There was also "abuse" (my term) by some of our more obsessive drivers of taking their trailer or sets through every morning and evening. A few guys definitely went overboard with it.
They also stopped the monthly powerwashings a few years ago.
Frankly, I don't personally care. We have so much pressure about dwell times and such that I ain't even bothering with it any more. The truck gets too dirty pay me or someone else to wash it or allow us an extra couple minutes of dwell every Friday or something and I'll drive it through.
I won't let them have it both ways. Either they stop whining about dwell or do it themselves.
No company wants you to get hurt on there property if your on the property and an employee you are covered under workmans comp even a remote parking lot your covered because it pertains to the work you did or are going to do if you punch out and fall down the stairs next to the clock your under workmans comp otherwise people would be suing employers like a slip and fall at walmart for millionsJust don’t get hurt while off the clock. True. But a headache none the less. Comp, long and short term disability. All benefits but a real pain to get involved with. At least with this company. No company wants you to get hurt on there property if your on the property and an employee you are covered under workmans comp even a remote parking lot your covered because it pertains to the work you did or are going to do if you punch out and fall down the stairs next to the clock your under workmans comp otherwise people would be suing employers like a slip and fall at walmart for millions
