FedEx Freight | July Bids

Buddy told me Hagerstown lost 5.

I have a feeling if these trade deals get done in the next few months the extra board is going to be run ragged.
I hope you are right not just for the reason you stated but if things dont get ironed out by next year we will probably be back under democratic control. Ugh...
Our runs stayed the same. Like it really matters. When everyone becomes healthy will be 4 deep on the extra board. Two too many on any given night and 3 on a lot of others. Oh and it starts the 21 st.

Just wanted to take a few mins to educate those who had no idea that the tractor assignment policy had been updated a couple years ago before the July bids start...

I can’t speak for all centers but at most hubs there are bids that slip-seat and tractors are assigned to those bids by Central...but that doesn’t mean you necessarily have to take the tractor assigned to that bid!!

For example: Say you have 6 day bids that go to meet point A at 500 miles and 3 night bids that go to meet point Z at 400 miles. Bid 2A slip seats with bid 1Z with tractor R12345 and bid 5A slip seats with bid 3Z and has tractor R54321. Mr Senior wants bid 2A but doesn’t want the assigned tractor R12345...because he has seniority, he can choose tractor R54321 that was originally assigned to bids 5A/3Z because both slip seat bid runs are the same mileage and that would then force tractor R12345 onto bid 5A/3Z.

Something to think about before the July bidding process starts...

I’ve driven R12345, I have no desire to do so again. I’m pretty sure that by the time we get to R54321 they WILL be driving themselves.

I'm guessing once this China trade deal gets done things will boom. It's also my guess is that because of the trade war that's the cause of all this and we were staffed but were not expecting this.

well, obviously China hasn't been shipping in their 1.00 potato peelers and .50 cent T-shirts like they have in the past but I think if you're looking for a rebound, I wouldn't hold your breath. Once an agreement is reached, its just going to increase the cost of doing business with that trash making place called China. I mean seriously, when you get right down to it, that's all this country does is buy foreign made crapola

Yeah it was the first thing that came to mind . When I was a city driver I want to say 30% of the places I went to I was either delivering multiple plts of China stuff or picking it up from a redistribution warehouse to ship again somewhere in the country. Alot of contract loads of this stuff as well. It's just a guess.
