To me, that is the strongest argument for unionization.
This company has been that way since it started. Remember the rule, if you flip a trailer your fired no matter who's fault it is. From what I hear we lost many good drivers that way.
Some have also said that back in the day we didn't need a union.... Well look at you today...What's changed... You know if you had a contract back in the day..... Oh I forgot Detter was a great guy. He just knew what to say and do to keep them out and you all believed him.

You did not lose your job automatically if you flipped a trailer back in the day . I know of 3 drivers that did so and all but one of them is still with the company. The that is no longer here just left on his own recently by his own choice year afterwards . One of them almost lost his job due to the high dollar amount of the freight supposedly damaged but investigated on his own and found out all the freight delivered clear ( no damage) went to Berg with it and kept his job. Had he not investigated on his own he would have been gone . Their far less ways to get fired back in 91 then there is today.

Once again, you can't have it both ways, you either follow the contract or why bother, having it your way when it suits you is what you accuse the company of doing.

Fair enough. But, for the record, I do support seniority in almost all cases. I don't support anything written in blood. I would prefer to be able to use discretion in certain matters. However, the contract is the final word and I would have to abide by its terms once signed.

I have to reply on this again. This driver has been here for years, help out at his barn if they need someone to run a sector at their FAC. Was general a good guy. From what I been told. Then he was caught looking at his phone on camera for a total of 8sec. From what I been told. Now tell me should this driver keep his job.

Form what I hear he swerved the truck at the last sec, but destroyed 2 trailer and a dolly. Luckily no one else was involved.
The trailers and the dolly are sitting at XMI and if you like the next time I there I can get you a pic of the twisted hunk of metal that was the dolly.

No, he shouldn't keep his job. He should be fired. Now, can you tell me the difference between this guy and the guy in Orlando?

Not sure what you're saying here. I feel confident in saying that in the current business climate, EVERYONE NEEDS A UNION. And the trend towards unionization is growing daily. Baby steps to be sure, but it's moving in the right direction.

It's one thing to demand something that the company doesn't have to give. No union can get something that isn't there. However, many trucking companies and XPO in particular, are making obscene profits. Enough profit to offer every employee a decent health care policy and modest increases in other areas of compensation. No problem spending millions on union busters in order to avoid paying us what we are worth. That seems acceptable. No problem with exorbitant executive compensation and shareholder value. That's OK too!

And I'm frustrated by people who say we can't do anything about it because they make all the rules. That's exactly the point. When you are unionized, you get to have a say in the establishment of some of those rules and you have an even bigger say in how they are enforced.

This Entire country is wholly dependent on us to bring them all the necessities of life. Almost EVERYTHING comes on on of our trucks. What would happen if one day, by design, we could reach half the truckers in this country and in one big bold statement announce : "You won't get what you need, until we get what we need." Try to realize the power we have.

That doesn’t suite his individual needs. He is a star employee that knows all the history of this company in his short duration here. Anything they want to do is good with him . Hell, he would pay to work here if that’s what it takes. Stop asking for what your worth and just take what they give you . Why are you so demanding, if you don’t like it go somewhere else. Your very ungrateful. There’s guys here making 100, 000 working 70 hours a week what’s the problem? Talk about ungreatful.

I’m one of those making more than 100k.... I don’t see the correlation in your post.

So what is it, you will abide by the contract or you will not support anything written in blood? What exactly do you think a contract is?

The benes absolutely suck ! They could do so much more . If they gave excellent ins they wouldn’t have to spend millions fighting the union . Doesn’t matter if you’ve been here 20 plus years or 1 year it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the ins sucks . You apparently haven’t figured that out I’m sll the years you say you’ve been here . Some may make 100,000 plus , some of those guys are probably spending well over $7,000 a year out of pocket for **** poor ins .

100k sounds great till you consider your working the equivalent of 2 full time jobs when your touching 70 hours to earn that. That’s a large chunk of life to give in return to obtain that marker.
I have a long time friend who works for UPS package who’s earning 130k , fully paid healthcare, fully paid pension and 401k . He works the 70 hours also and sacrifices a large chunk of his life. The payoff in the end for him is appropriate compensation and a great retirement.
I’m not putting down your compensation but I think the industry could do a lot better for your sacrifice.

I was being sarcastic and a little intoxicated

The insurance was much better many years ago. We allowed them to chop away on it for years before some of us said enough.
