I thought it appropriate to relocate this topic to the proper thread before the TB police showed up...I understand they have a negative perception but they have such a strong positive effect.
Companies will have to determine in the near future which is more important. A device seen as invasive (don’t forget you’re in company equipment) or is it a device that will show a driver blameless and paying full attention at the time of an accident.
The former Midwest region VP went to Saia and he said they are having a hell of a time trying to find drivers since they installed the driver facing cameras.Perhaps, but the scumbag owners at SAIA do it and they’ve weaponized it
Actually they do have a camera on the back side. It is covered by the cradle. When everyone freaked out about the eld's when first installed I pulled up the spec sheet on them to prove the front light sensor wasn't a camera. People still didn't believe it.That's an ambient light sensor. Doesn't have a camera built in. Congratulations, you fell for the standard joke of the day. I'd call you a dumbass, but all the resident dumbasses would be offended.

There are no driver facing cameras at new penn YRC Or HollandI thought it appropriate to relocate this topic to the proper thread before the TB police showed up...
No, “companies” will have to determine in the near future which is more important...being able to determine the direction of the company without interference or having to consult with representation on that direction!! Anyone who knows me knows I’m anti-u and I was a big proponent of getting rid of the U in CLT and other centers, and I also understand that U companies have the driver facing cameras BUT U companies have language in their contracts that protects the drivers from these electronic devices AND most of the anti guys that I’ve talked to would gladly sign a card and vote yes if the company was stupid enough to move forward with such an asinine decision!!
Driver facing cameras don’t necessarily determine blame as u claim, in almost all cases they’re nothing more than a liability for the company and the “smoking gun” for Prosecutors!!
With their newest truck having over 1,000,000 miles I really doubt a steam powered film camera could be retrofittedThere are no driver facing cameras at new penn YRC Or Holland
They ,YRC spent 35 million installing cameras in 1999 trucks. Some are not as old 2006 2003 and some 2007 ,Those are for the senior guys 20 years or more. ,Yes some guys drive the old roadway junk every day,No kidding!!!!!With their newest truck having over 1,000,000 miles I really doubt a steam powered film camera could be retrofitted
Are there any pumpkins left? They ,YRC spent 35 million installing cameras in 1999 trucks. Some are not as old 2006 2003 and some 2007 ,Those are for the senior guys 20 years or more. ,Yes some guys drive the old roadway junk every day,No kidding!!!!!
Those are long gone ,Just like the International R-1900sAre there any pumpkins left?
Those Internationals were before the ford pumpkins .You might find one in a farmers field some where in Ohio.Back then most companies scrapped there trucks so there competition would re use them. Carolina freight carriers was the exception .They took any bodies trucks and completely refurbished equipment in cherry ville NC .UPS still scraps all there tractors and package cars. Are there any pumpkins left?

C’mon BORED, you know all of the innovations we’ve implemented in the last several years...adaptive cruise, collision mitigation, use of cameras, etc...is all leading to autonomous cars and trucks but the trucking industry is the guinea pig/proving grounds for such innovations...and were acting as the crash test dummies for these innovations without the extra compensation!!It’s a double edged sword. If they have documented poor behavior on video prior to the same actions causing a serious accident? I doubt if legal department wants to test those waters.
Look at the new Subaru commercials though! People are adopting completely invasive nanny systems under the guise of what, living forever?
You guys had a chance to make changes with YOUR COMPANY.And you let it slip away.If you want changes .Write Fred a letter of your demands, I am sure he will read it and take the appropriate actions.C’mon BORED, you know all of the innovations we’ve implemented in the last several years...adaptive cruise, collision mitigation, use of cameras, etc...is all leading to autonomous cars and trucks but the trucking industry is the guinea pig/proving grounds for such innovations...and were acting as the crash test dummies for these innovations without the extra compensation!!

Well ,I guess there’s the union option. But you guys figured you could ,negotiate all on your own without a labor union ,How’s hat working out for you now.Better with than with out. When your still working at seventy .And the medical bills start coming in , let us know how much that great insurance covers ,and there’s a ray of sunshine,You can then collect your social security and that great pension Fred’s got waiting for you.Write Fred!!! LOL!!
Better have your resume ready too.
Look, we get it, you think the union is the answer to everything. Secondly, you have no understanding of our retirement plans. Thirdly, you haven't taken an honest look at the Teamsters under Hoffa Jr. Senior Hoffa built the union, Junior Hoffa razed it.Well ,I guess there’s the union option. But you guys figured you could ,negotiate all on your own without a labor union ,How’s hat working out for you now.Better with than with out. When your still working at seventy .And the medical bills start coming in , let us know how much that great insurance covers ,and there’s a ray of sunshine,You can then collect your social security and that great pension Fred’s got waiting for you.
You shouldn’t be so shallow, it’s not a union/anti-union thing...it’s our industry as a whole. I don’t see where any company is compensating their drivers for testing such devices...including union companies. You guys had a chance to make changes with YOUR COMPANY.And you let it slip away.If you want changes .Write Fred a letter of your demands, I am sure he will read it and take the appropriate actions.
