Sad to see that one company can turn so many into trash.
I only worked for one of the ltl's Roadway.
I didn't even know what LTL was before I went and applied there.
All I knew it was a trucking company. Period.
I came straight out of the oilfield. (Halliburton)
I needed a job. At the beginning (after being in the oilfield) I felt I hit a goldmine!
I was proud and happy to work there. And for a long time too.
Sure. We had problems. But nothing like what's going on now.
Just incompetence. Yrc won't take good advice from anyone. Even if they know it's good and it will work. Roadway did. They let us make the decision to do the right thing when need be. And it worked. Well.
Roadway was profitable. Crappy tractors. But. They paid well and the future was bright.
Until.
The last 10 plus years after having to move to a yellow dock after 22 years in the same place was totally depressing and disturbing but I did it. It was dismal at the beginning of the merger. We had no freight and only if we were lucky took two hours to load up and be done on the dock for the night.
Nothing improved the whole of ten years. It got busier. But that didn't improve things. It was just so out of whack. All the knowledgeable supers and dispatchers left soon after the merger. One Yellow outboard super stayed for about two years.
He was good at what he did. Treated all equally. But left. Retired. Then a host of Wannabes. At least seven or eight and more in the six months since I left. Couldn't keep a super if they had a ball and chain on one. Only because it's a job worse than a dock job with no future. I ramble. But nothing has improved as time passed. I'm sure it still hasn't. And won't. They should have just left Roadway alone.
It's just a matter of time now. It has been.
They trip over all the bad decisions to make more bad decisions.
Employees just have given up. Threw their hands in the air and just go in until there is no more going in to work.
Some I know still try but to no avail.
Maybe they could just take the Y off yrc.
But I knew many of the Y side. They mostly were good men.
Rosdway was a better company. Period.
I said it. I've always wanted to. Now that I have retired it makes no difference.
I can't offend anyone. Not at work. I'm not there. Yellow put my moral in the toilet.
I just flushed it when I retired. Done. And happy.
I wish no ill will on the men and women still working there. But I know alot of them had their moral :
: on. And they are still there. Passing time until they can go. If they ever can go. That's the biggest problem. Most being at the age they can't retire but have well over 30 in. I am so fortunate to be able to get out. Successfully. Most can't. And won't be able to.
So. Yrc will take Yrc and ruin Yrc as it did all the other companies it bought and trashed. Just taking longer
I know alot won't like this post. But tough moosetits
Everyone has an opinion. And a voice. That's mine. To an extent.
