FedEx Freight | Very Low Frieght

I’m not getting in a pissing contest about who lied. Obviously you haven’t been in the LTL industry very long. It has its ups and downs. Right now it’s a little off from normal. It’s not just here it’s all LTL’s.

I'm kind of scratching my head wondering how long you have been in the ltl business. I don't remember freight slowing down for everyone even though the economy is booming. My guess is the China deal is finally slowing everything down no other scenario really makes sense.

How long have you been in the LTL business...5-6 years?? Freight comes and goes, it’s part of the business...and we’ll get through it like we always do. Your “guess” is wrong, if you believe China and the trade tariffs have anything to do with our freight levels then I have some ocean front property in KNX I’ll sell ya...cheap!! Turn off the TV and quit reading opinion articles on the net, it’s all BS!!

As always you are guessing once again on how long I have been in this business. Freight does come and go so does the economy, but freight usually does not drop substantially when the economy is strong. So tell us einstein what's the reason for slow down if it's not the China tariffs? There is a reason for slow down and I'm not buying the ole freight comes and goes bs.

I'm curious too! 4 guys outta 15 sat home last night....so what gives

CLT city is running within a couple of percent of last year as far as pickups. Last year was a record year. The difference is we hired enough drivers so that guys can take their vacations and personal time now. Also no one in the city is having to work 14 hour days now. The lowest seniority guys may not get all 8 hours driving, but they have the option to work dock to get it just like the rest of us did at first. Quit yer bitchin.

This seems to be absolutely true. I don't keep up with this daily, but most recently when asking inbound supervisor about the actual freight level, it's up year over year. Even said to have had record day recently.

Most recent quarterly report shows the same. Revenue per ship, up. Average daily ships, up.

Since the report, things may be flat, compared to record setting past months. Very likely SHORT of projected levels. The big difference for most locations seems to be staffing. They finally are fully staffed - for the time being, as evidenced by the short list of internal job openings. Only (literally) a couple of driver positions open, system wide.

As noted by others, certain lanes are up, while others are down. Also, most city drivers are thrilled to be rid of the 12-14 hr days, while others long for and expect them.

THAT is unusual for July. :scratchhead: Uncertainly on tariffs & interest rate adjustments, lack of understanding on tariffs, media hype/disinformation, and nonsensical political resistance likely the underlying cause. I don't have all the answers. Not sure anyone does.

Whatever the reason there is a lot of uncertainty. Many drivers on CLT road board jumped to other runs. Hell I heard that many paychecks had been opened by nervous nellies !

Although most of the senior guys tend to stay put, jumping around on the bi-annual July bid is pretty common...for various reasons.
Opening someone else’s paycheck/stub is BS and should lead to termination IMO (but FXFE has become way to soft for that) but going paperless would also alleviate the problem.

We finally agree on something. Drivers know how many miles any given run is.. so is it they are freaking stupid and can't do math. Smh

Don't go getting technical on us "freight comes and goes". I am heading to Knoxvile to look at some ocean front property. :biglaugh:
I could tweet Satish, and have him weigh in with some of his paid for consulting? Like, yes BRG, we are seeing a sluggish economy right now, which could affect 2nd quarter earnings...
