ODFL | Wage And Benefit Meeting

You're TM is probably talking about the quarterly one on one meetings we started in Indy a few weeks ago. All employees/drivers are meeting with either the TM, ATM or Linehaul Manager. I'm assuming it's about the survey results. They're asking questions like "what can OD do to help you with your job." I seen the memo that put the whole performance based crap to bed. Corporate said performance based raises will never happen here.
Just told by TM they are switching to performance based raises!

That’s a great rumor but ain’t true,, sure could use that on the city,,, would never work linehaul
It’s true! Performance based raises! You are correct billy about city and it will effect city drivers more than linehaul, but what they will rate linehaul on performance will be things like ROI score, pretrip and post trips not being performed, locks not on doors, write ups etc.. oh and delaying freight!!!

COH will be having one of the first meetingd this year on July 29th and 30th. Still awaiting the formal announcement, but this is what management says they've been told. The Early Access is part of celebrating the completion of the COH remodel and expansion. The offices yard and fuel bays are getting the final touches as we speak. No rumors of leaked about any details around here, I don't believe any of them anyways.

Can't wait to see the place when finished. Last time I was down there on a run I picked up, yard was the fullest I've ever seen. Ready for all the construction to be done with.

That is pretty much what my TM said. Guys holding up freight napping, showing up late to work, etc. City guys who arent working as hard as other guys, etc. Said he felt like they should have done this a long time ago. Why should someone doing the bare minimum get the same raise as someone going above and beyond?

I still hope this isnt the case. If people are having performance issues, why not address them or write them up? Why is it about a raise? If you can validate someone doesnt deserve a full raise, shouldnt you be able to validate a write up? Or if a guy holds up freight constantly by napping, maybe take him off his bid run and put him on a shorter run?

It's fake news, seen the memo squashing the rumor in a few different places

Based on quarterly reviews? I’ve never been reviewed yet, that I was made aware of. I’m sure my file is packed though. How would that kind of pay system affect line? Performance?? I show up, hook up, drive to point B, drop, hook and drive back to point A. By the way, I do all my pre, post and inter trip inspections. Performance based on what? Doing cartwheels as I do things? How fast I can make the turn? I run I-5 northbound into PDX, right at evening commute. Oh..........the ROI score? Really, I need to hear the explanation about this, if this is true which I doubt. I’ll check the memo again tomorrow.
Which terminal do you drive out of to Portland?

I’m out of PDX, leave in the AM and return in the PM. Nice run except for the late afternoon traffic, actually if I had a bike pulling my trailers I could use the bike paths and the bridge to nowhere. Might save me some time.

It’s NOT true. I read the memo again this evening. We’re not being given raises according to performance. This includes line, city and mechanics.

I think Moose may have read Billy's memo, his zero turn drivers will be paid on performance and goat herding
abilities only.

Wow...didn’t realize you were that close! We’re practically neighbors!

Talking to the local OD guys here by me, they say the performance pay will only affect the state of Washington, and that city drivers who are not hitting their numbers, will have to run weekend linehaul at new hire rates.
So, they’re going to be ‘forced’ to run weekend linehaul by not ‘hitting’ their numbers? Will seniority factor in on these ‘forced’ assignments? And what exactly are the criteria for ‘hitting’ these numbers?

All you said is very true,, times a changing

Well good thing its not performance based cuz out here about 90 percent should get nothing because they dont believe in pre or post trips, takes too much of thier valuable time and oh my gosh, putting on locks, that would mean they would need to walk to the back of the trailer and maybe see something wrong. Goes right along with not using splash guards when its raining and the feeling that "IF I DONT GET PAID FOR THAT 5 minutes to put them on, IAM NOT DOING IT...seems to be a good answer given to the PNW regional line haul manager and his TM buddy. So dont worry, things will remain the same...yea..HAW
