Well. It's funny. Not sure if you intended it to be, but these two things are linked in a way. I wonder how all the blow hards will take it after the trade wars settle. That man is going to have a big say in this country's financial future. Tariffs with China and Europe. Extending NAFTA for Canada and Mexico. And you can ask any old fart what these things mean for us directly as truckers. And read up plenty on these pages about what these guys here think about it all.

As far as making XPO great again. I don't know when you considered it great at XPO. You have to go back to CCX for this job to have been great. And there ain't nothing bringing us back to that. Amazon and that model of the direct to door delivery have changed the game. Jacobs said he was going to focus on two day lanes and get away from the next day model with the LTL when he bought us, move into something more similar to what OD and FedEx freight do. Where you have the majority of freight. And somehow or another we have stayed next day dominant.

But if it makes you feel better. Here's a slogan from the past. ISWM. It Starts With Me. Take care to do what you can do. And to do it the best you can. Regardless of who is trying to stop you.

Here's another. Have the courage to intervene. When you see someone doing things wrong or even just poorly. Speak up. First tell them. And then tell the person in management responsible. I can tell you from experience that you will get told by both of them to go frak yourself. But maybe over time, if you are persistent. You can make a change.

And lastly, and this may or may not seem like a big deal to you, depending on how old you are but, treat people the way you would want to be treated. Sometimes all it takes is a small amount of give a frak to completely change the situation. People are so used to getting blown off and ignored. Just take a moment with everyone you work with everyday to acknowledge them. Dockhands, drivers, customers, security guards. Who ever is there, where ever you are. Simply saying " hi " is actually a really big thing any more. People all stare at their phones or the floor. Letting the people around you know that they do matter and that they are here and that you are going to engage them. It brings them present. It makes them feel that what the are doing in that moment matters as well. Regardless of what it is. It makes them aware. That people will notice them and what they did. Good or bad. And some people will do the wrong thing and brag about it. And they can continue to own what they do. But the good people that do good things and don't run their mouth and don't get the recognition. They get to own that. That they did well and someone cared to notice. And you will see that spread. Not always as much as you hoped. But you don't have to completely change the entire world all at once to make a difference. Which is the heart of what MAGA is all about. Using your voice and being heard. Just making a difference because you at least cared that much.

Things are definitely not like the ccx days of old here at my barn. People just are bugging out cause they don’t care, for one reason or another, to be here anymore. In just over a year’s time we lost a 20 year plus L/H dsr, a 15 year L/H dsr, two 15 year plus P&D drivers, one very good I/b super. And most likely we will probably add to this list before the end of the year seeing how it’s only July.
Come to think of it, it’s a wonder that the rest of us are still here. I’m just holding on by the skin of my teeth till my projected retirement date gets here next year. Making my final turn and headed for the home stretch .

It was never good at Cse
It was never a CCX, but it was better than Conway Freight and super better than the chaos that exists today. CSE was family....small....cared about the employees.... cared about the customer....cared about the service....cared about the freight....I used to have people on the street ask for help getting on board. It used to be a position of pride. Those days are long gone. With hind sight being 20/20, I'd rather be wearing purplish/blue and green still than anything I've experienced since. Never thought I'd say that.

Greed ruined it plain and simple. They had the right formula but couldn’t help themselves . That will never exist at Xpo.

Good luck, driver. I hope you get to see it. We have lost so much. Upper management. Local management. Long tenure drivers and mechanics. Some really good customers. It’s been a long strange trip indeed.

Thx HS...I hope so too.The healthy, youthful, energetic, and robust dsr of yesteryear is now gone. After many years of pushing, pulling, lifting, and stressing, I’m all about used up, out of gas, and definitely ready to be put out to pasture.
But till then...I’ve got to suck it it up, charge forward, and endure for a little while longer.

I find it astounding that when everyone goes back to "the good 'ol days," it always seems to drift back to CCX......never CSE. Just an observation.
Just a couple of thoughts on why ccx and not other regionals are linked with the good old days. 1) ccx was the regional con-way trucker that i hooked up with... so I guess you can say that I’m partial to that regional. And that’s why I refer to it as the good old days. 2) ccx was an expansion regional. When CEX was closed cause of union issues, Conway couldn’t or wouldn’t open a new East regional...so they just expanded to the uncovered CEX territory with ccx. Result... ccx had a lot more personal than other regionals. Consequently, and proportionately more drivers associate with CCX rather than any other regionals in the Conway system.
I don’t know that what I just said is true. Just take it under advisement as strictly speculative, k?

CWX was awsome, the blue and gold. I thanked my lucky stars when they hired me. Don't know too much about CCX except for the brown pants and white shirts. Always wondered how a trucking company could hand out white shirts to work in until I learned that they had a uniform service to clean them. We didn't have that at CWX, at least not when they hired me.

Yep...that's another perk those boys got that no one else did.

It was a well ran machine when CSE was ran out of Charlotte, went down hill a little when the went to Texas and merged with CSW.
Went to pot when it became CWF.

That was back in the Jerry Detter days, when he cared about how the drivers looked the trucks were well maintained, terminals were cleaned and well maintained.Right now there is a pile of pigeon sh** on the ledge going up the ramp thats been there for months, I'm sure any customers going up that ramp like that. The worst thing they had a cookout a few weeks back and were cooking food 20 feet from that. Pathetic !!!
