FedEx Freight | Fedex Direct

Do tell,, WHAT will happen then?

Are you aware that there are already tens of thousands of companies that enter a home? DirecTv, internet, electrician, plumber, carpet installer, Lowes, HD, and so on..

Why would this service be any different?
We had a ground delivery at abf, customer asked if he would wheel it into the garage & then said the gas fireplace was damaged from the truck to the garage. ABF received a certified letter to appear in front of the magistrate, ABF was out $6,000....All for doing the woman a favor....

Can sympathize but even now, for the most part, when doing residentials we're forced to put it in the garage.

Found out today the reason why no one has done one of these delivery's is that Fedex is have some issues with the IT side of things. Also found out that instead of hiring class B drivers they might be looking at making a new company to handle these.

Most companies outsource this service to a third party. I know of a guy who owns five trucks that handles this service for Estes in the Fayetteville and Rocky Mount, NC areas and he can’t keep up.

We've seen plenty of residential, straight truck/liftgate, done with the small cab over box truck. Enough to justify a bid, with occasional overflow. Not yet seen or heard of any light assembly in my area, 3rd party or not.

Yeah, but FXF has now stated these deliveries will be done inhouse with FXF drivers. And I know WE don't have straight trucks that will do residential. I will NOT back or drive a 26' KW down a driveway and will NOT jack a quarter mile to the house.

It will be an entirely different OpCo.
Freight will move through the FxF network, and be delivered by a different class of drivers than the FxF city guys, as a lot of these deliveries will be on weekends, and after hours

Your not supposed to be on anyone's driveway in tractor and trailer anyways. Liability liability liability.

I am a rehire here in California. Was a line/road driver and came back as a city driver. I was not told about this service iuntil Friday when I had to clock in for education on it. SCM said he had to force from the bottom up four of us drivers to make these deliveries.

This is not what I signed up for. I'm 52 yrs. old and can't see myself as a furniture delivery guy. I'm going to see what it's like before I decide to quit.

Having to put all that gear on myself and the pallet jack then make the delivery is going to be a mess when it rains.

what the hell did you come back for..starting wage for new driver isn't all that great and the incentive to return to Fedex after quitting is zilch!

Thankfully I can afford the starting wage. House is paid for and I do not have any bills. So I can work my way through wage progression with no problem. I thought that working p&d would get me to retirement by the time I'm 59 yrs. old. I liked whag I was doing as a city driver until this happened.

Center mgr should have had a rebid, including the residential route. Only then does it become a default bid (last ones left).

I think some centers are different. I know at my center we bid start times not routes. They will try to keep you on the same route daily but if it becomes slow or they dont like someone you take what they give you.

So what did you "learn" in the education?
