With the closing and relocation of New Penn's corporate HQ. And the comments from Hawkins about increasing density by consolidating terminals within similar geographic operating areas, this is not a time to be near the bottom of any seniority list. Teamster drivers as well as dock and clerical operations will be adversely effected.

Copy that appreciate the info. It's just confusing to see all of the full-time class A road and city jobs posted on indeed at YRC and Holland. Doesn't make much sense to me.

All of YRCW's operating companies are DESPERATE for drivers. Even, in linehaul, with the increase in "purchased transportation" service is suffering. Because there are not enough P&D drivers to complete the daily pick ups or deliveries.

They're making road drivers do more en route pickups and deliveries!

Just the opposite here, in 35 yrs, I can count the times on 1 hand I touched a piece of freight.
The times, they are a changin’!

In ‘the good old days’ of regulation, that was policy and practice.

Now days, we are all expected to do many things outside of our ‘classifications.’

Not a bad thing, imho. It’s just difficult to find new hires who realize mastering all facets of the industry is the new norm.

For sure, things like we did in my days are keeping union companies from being able to compete with the nons.
I've waited an hr. on the clock for a city driver to finish his lunch and switch a trailer,
I wasn't allowed to switch.

I've made enroute deliveries on a sleeper run. God forbid a lazyass road driver have to get out and work a minute. .lol
Did it once on a sleeper run. Dropped a pup in Basalt, Colorado. Left our lead in Glenwood Springs and took the single to a customer and spotted it at their dock. Adelanto was going to send us to Denver and then send it back to Basalt with a broker. I told them it was pretty dumb to drag it all the way to Denver and then back to Basalt. (360 extra miles). Roadway paid us hourly from Glenwood to Basalt and back, AND we had a very happy customer.
