ABF | New Terminal

Awesome facility, total DISASTER operation

Money Pop
I retired from 050 in January 2016. I hear 80 grand a month for rent on the new terminal. Why or what drove them from 2 buildings paid for to the new digs up in Whitestown? Has to add a 1/2 hour to the warehouses in Plainfield. And 90 minutes to Seymour just to flip wall mart. Sounds like the Fort was not ready for this move. Fueling @ Loves (city & road) must be very time consuming. How are those sleds working out for the dock? And do you have a fork lift capable of handling the extra weight?

You can fuel anywhere. We all have credit cards. It has added time to some runs reduced others. The "sleds" or "properly" called "mobile platform" lol are a good idea but the software on the forklifts are a BIG problem. You don't pick up the sleds. You put a "coupler" on the forks, attach it to the sled, and then it raises the rollers. Then you just roll 20,000lbs wherever you want it. You don't even use dock plates to load or unload them on trailers.
Even with the "issues" there is TOO much money invested for this to fail.

I don't know the sq. ft. but we have been told it is bigger sq. ft. than Daytons 300+ door terminal which makes it the largest in the system.
We run from IL. to Oh. West to East and Peru to Mitchell North and South

Road drivers run to Omaha, Little Rock, Atlanta, and Carlisle. Also what ever Dayton comes up with.
Thanks for the response.

Does Dayton usually dictate where extra board drivers go at other linehaul terminals or is that where central dispatch is located?

When a road driver leaves a terminal they are dispatched by central dispatch unless the board is exhausted at the receiving terminal. Or that terminal is an end-of-line terminal then the dispatch is regional/central dispatch.
