Central Transport | Who Would Work For This Company?

What are you trying to proof here? You could take these exact same pics of any LTL tractor on the road. Tires are still legal, other than that the rest is basic wear and tear. That is a 2 year old tractor that will be turned in next year for a new model.
Tires are legal?!? You're high if you think that outside dual is legal. That's why I took the picture. Trailer also had out of date inspection sticker by 4 months . Pieces and parts knocked off and bent like that on a two year old truck ?!? Your argument proves the popular view of CT being a bottom feeder. CT years ago used to be a good company, not anymore. I talk to the driver that drives this truck as I talk to and am pleasant with all LTL hands but he can barely speak and comprehend English. He can't read it. I've had to help him understand BOL's at several shippers we cross paths at . He's a nice guy but not much of a driver . He was hired straight out of school and thrown by CT into the city.

Not sure where you are at but they would never hire someone right out of school for city work. 6 months min tractor trailer experience needed for city.

I would be willing to bet that tire measures legal if a gauge was put to it.

You obviously worry more about this stuff than I do. As long as my check is cashing and I'm treated with respect I dont sweat this cosmetic crap. Do your pre trip, report anything outside DOT reg, other than that grab a gear and get the job done.

Secondly, you need to quit worrying about everyone else's stuff and do your damn job. I'm sure your company doesn't pay you to take photos of competition equipment while your on the clock.

They obviously did pay me while I took pictures of central transports OOS tire and FYI, the thing is bald. Notice you didn't reply about the trailer having a four month out of date inspection sticker. Call many of your coworkers liars? The driver himself said he was hired right out of school and put in the city . Had no idea what to do with a hazmat BOL. Take it up with him. Condition of any company's equipment is my concern when I have to share the road with it.

The driver should not have pulled the trailer if it was out of date. Plain and simple! I am not calling the driver a liar, I'm just simply stating that goes against all Central rules. Our TM wishes they would let him hire out of school to keep up with all this freight.

The condition of the rest of the fleet says the driver is telling the truth.

I spent time there and I can say a couple things. If Matthew is now in control of the company things will probably change. You could always tell when he was calling the shots. If he is it will take some time to change thing . It was so dysfunctional under his father there is a lot to fix along with a reputation that needs fixed as well. It's not an overnight fix and a lot of people will need to go in that process but will Matthew be willing to do that. Mathew has changed other companies before he got control of centra . I personal have confidence he can but it's gonna be a long road. While im not there anymore I hope for the guys I know that are still there he can change it.

If a driver takes a run with bad equipment and is stopped or an accident occurs, there is a very good chance for tickets or possible court action. No excuse in the eyes of the law to do a pre trip, then drive with tires like that. You are guilty of contributory negligence. Which means you inspected the equipment, but decided to drive it with defects that are obvious. Not to mention the company will fire you for failing to do a pre-trip or now letting them know of the safety defects. A cracked frame rail that is hard to see is one thing. But tire conditions in plain sight won't help you. von.

That's F$#+@D UP. My friend did have a trailer burn up on him last year working at Central. Pay and tractors are better. Everything else is pretty much the same.

Passed a central tractor pulling a white Vitran van that was in awful shape . Trailer still had factory mounted clearance lights at the bottom . Don't remember from what year forward FMCSA/DOT mandated they be mounted on top frame of vans but it's been awhile.
