XPO | Lay Off At Nnc

Is the bid process still the same? It was called JSP (job selection process). My first time filling it out, I was aghast that there were actually 48 start times (every 15 minutes of every hour)!! I said to our TM: “Are you honestly telling me there’s an 03:45 start time?”

Management here hasn't honestly told us, or anyone, anything in quite a long time. One of the many reasons XPO has a horrible reputation with everyone, everywhere.

Funny thing is, they are making $20 an hour or so ? I don't remember the exact number. And we are well below market in Columbus anyway. Forklift jobs are paying $20-25 an hour. It's making it hard to justify driving a truck at $28.
Our guys make around $20 and change, but can go down the street to OD and make around $25. When we hired out first FT dock guys years ago, we trained so many that went there. Still, dont wanna up the money to attract quality candidates and retain them. I'm glad to see that driver's pay is all broken up due to the market, but DW pay is some how the same.:idunno:

At our terminal they asked for 3 volunteers (drivers only) and only one took it originally. So they were laying off one dockworker (for the second time this year, same guy also) then demoting a driver to dock worker pay and forcing another out. The last day though two more drivers stepped up (one that was being demoted and another at the bottom of the board) and volunteered so the dock worker got to keep his job for now.

Unreal :duh::duh:

Demoting a driver to dockworker pay.

In this case , is the driver with the demoted pay still expected to drive? Or is the demoted-pay driver now restricted to dockworker duties?

That’s sad but true. Shows how bad our compensation has stagnated. Ups package is the only one that kept up with the times at $40 /hour . No wonder the industry can’t get drivers.

He was being demoted to a dock worker. I’m sure they would have figured out a way for him to just go grab this swap real quick.

I think this will fit in here. About a month ago our SIC asked for two volunteers to take a 6 week layoff. Today the released the bottom two guys with a severance package and put the third guy up on the dock at a $6/hr cut. I’m telling you that I believe BJ cannot pay his bills, can’t borrow any more money and can grow this company organically because of all of the cuts. He sure has found himself in something he knows nothing about.

God help us!!
