Taking over a former nemf terminal in Albany. With the cohab coming and the merger of the lists not far behind it's looking like yellow roadway merger all over again.

I thought I read somewhere that SAIA had some sort of interline agreement with NEMF to service freight in the North East, can anyone confirm or deny that?

They did at onetime, they also did business with Land Air and Pitt Ohio before invading the Northeast.

Thanks for reply. I know that one of my regular heavy hitters for outbound has said Saia's rates to the Northeast are unbelievably low over the last few months. I have lost several moves we used to handle due to Saias rate cutting to that area. It appears they are slashing rates in an attempt to build volume into NEMF's footprint .

I hope they choke on that cheap freight too... slashing prices hurts all companies and in the process all us drivers as well.

They are moving cheap to gain ground in the Northeast, they want ODFL's, Estes, FedEx Frghts, ABF and YRC longer moves to the area. Moving frght to cheap for too long will put you in the same boat as NEMF.

YRCW can’t keep up the cheap rate thing because of massive Debt. Saia probably can for quite a while, because Saia was Debt Free after Yellow charged their debts to Preston, and then spun them off as independent, and closed Preston... if they hadn’t, Saia would be tied up with YRC, Reddaway, Holland, and New Penn....

I collect model diecast trucks and I have an entire shelf with nothing but defunct northeast (or originally NE) carriers. Red Star, Nemf, New York Carolina Express, GOD, Jevic, Preston. Constant reminder of what low rates and poor practices can cause.

I told you guys months ago and I will tell you again. Do not look down on Saia as some kind of "scab" operation or cheap rate carrier. They are not your buddy or your friend. They are invading the NorthEast to take your lunch money, your candy, and to kick your ass. Those boys from Atlanta are damn good at what they do and they don't have a ball and chain union contract digging into their corporate pocket. What they do have is Q2 results. Read em' and have an aw ::shit:: moment.

Everyday, I transit through one of the biggest Saia terminals and a smaller terminal. I know everyone, I see the corporate work culture, and there ain't no junk freight, on either dock. You had better wise up, to the fact, that Saia is a very serious threat. Saia is just getting started and that should scare the hell out of you.

I’m sure everyone in the north will be shaking in their boots after reading that.
