FedEx Freight | Fedex To End Ground Deliveries For Amazon

Good. Smart for Fx.
Amazon has it's claws DEEP in UPS, to the tune of 13% of their total volume.

You don't want a company being that big of your market,as they can pretty much dictate whatever they want.

Amazon-FedEx split sets battle lines in e-commerce delivery feud

"The end of two delivery contracts with Amazonmeans FedEx will have to make up for the lost sales by extending a push to serve other customers such as Walmart Inc. Amazon will have to rely more on United Parcel Service Inc. and the U.S. Postal Service as it seeks to fulfill a pledge for next-day delivery to top customers — and build out its own shipping network.

The decision “represents the continued ‘drawing of a line’ in the sand between FedEx and arrangements/partnerships that do not fit its network,” Ben Hartford, an analyst with Robert W. Baird, said in a note to clients Wednesday. “FedEx will work to optimize and protect its network, while strengthening relationships with more strategically important customers.”

“I think Amazon played hardball and didn’t win,”

"Amazon made up about 1.3% of FedEx’s sales last year."

Since Amazon started running their own delivery trucks, I have been part of group texts started by my neighbors trying to track down their packages. I have gotten requests to look at my security camera footage to see if an Amazon truck was in our cul de sac around the time the they marked the package “delivered”. More than a few times, the answer is “no” and then the package will either end up on my doorstep or actually make it to the intended address about two days later.

Amazon hired off the street and the quality definitely shows. You’re not going to get Chick-fil-A service when you have McDonald’s hiring standards.

Yup.
Amazon's success has largely been attributed to other successful businesses models who have perfected their craft.
Ups has sank hundreds of millions into warehouses exclusively for Amazon freight. Amazon realized very early on, that they needed large facilities. As opposed to building them, why not let Ups just hold the freight?
Again, Amazon made up too large of UPS's market to turn them away.

Now, Amazon is learning the true cost to provide fast, and quality shipping services.

I'd really like to see Walmart up their online game and usurp Amazon, but Cripes, their website is AWFUL!

UPS is so large that 13% immediate loss of Amazon revenue would be a mild hit against their next 2 quarters. But trust me, if UPS want's out for any reason, out they will go. As a company they can afford to take the hit. If the profit margin is to low from Amazon business, they will raise the rates. If Jeff say NO, UPS says goodbye. von.

13% loss a "mild hit" !????!

Not 0.0013%, THIRTEEN PERCENT.

You have bumped your head if you think a company the size of UPS having 13% of it's total volume gone, is a "mild hit" It would permanently alter the company.

There’s a time when you must stiffen your back and fight - even if you’ll take damage... Better now, before the grinning monster is fully grown.

I ran across an article the other day talking about Amazon already struggling with the cost of next day delivery costs. It ain’t cheap!! Why do you think we are getting out?
What? You mean making their independent contractors deliver a 100 stops a day,in 16 hours,7 days a week, paying for their upkeep on their Uber car, or step van, making about $10 an hour, on average, is not working out?

Not sure you're on target with 100, our UPS guy makes 200 stops a day in our little town, I'd think FX would be close.
Just a guess, think you may be high on hourly scale, another guess.

When I was with ground i would do 100 to 150 stops a day. It would take me about 12 hours and I would get paid 1.30 per stop. I wouldn't take any breaks . My goal was to be done as quick as possible.
