ABF | Sleds Used At Customer Docks

Leave sled at customer? How many of those sleds can you guys afford to loose?
As far as I know, ABF Freight is the only carrier using these. They would be easy to spot on any ‘foreign’ dock. Does anybody know if they’ve been stamped with an inventory tag?

I couldn’t tell you for sure but Abf Stamps their tires for god sake’s. If they didn’t stamp their sleds then they are really slacking! LOL

In the past the company lost converter gears presumably stolen when they were left on customer's property. I found one in the weeds at a small terminal while picking up/repairing a tractor. It had an air leak which I repaired & brought it back to the main terminal. The dispatcher said it had not been used for a long time & was presumed lost/stolen.

they are set up with the bar codes. During training they tell if you put a pallet on the bottom right, you scan it so they know where to look for it.

Leave a few on a customer's dock,....and I'll bet you the Proverbial "Dollars to Donuts"....some....".Inventive Employee" will find a way to....use...that sled....for storage,...hold propane tanks....OS and D......gather the trash cans around the dock.....
....Snow removal........turned on it's side, and a tarp, as temporary weather protection.....shed for vendor's tires......

The list can go on and on.........Possession is 90% of the Law.......Leave something on a customer's dock,....and we ALL know, it becomes their..."possession"....

I can see...."forklift training"....with newly-hired employees......"Hey! We don't own that! We didn't pay for it, even!....Put Larry, Daryll, and Daryll on a towmoter and...."train"...them on moving things around....."

(...Never mind that Larry, Daryll, and Daryll have a combined I.Q. of just under 100,..and they all carpooled together in the '78 Buick Skylark with 4 bald tires and two mismatched fenders...)(...and you hired them because you're desperate,..but otherwise you wouldn't trust 'em with a box of burnt matches...)....

No Problemo!
