Local coverage vs National coverage. Far more agenda driven on national level. What they don't/won't tell you is often far more significant than what they do. Almost every topic. Almost every time.
...or it very rarely exists?

I won’t turn this thread into a political debate but do a quick search on “good guy with a guy myth...”. You’ll quickly see the results are pretty staggering showing that packing is going to make you a hero. This is a myth brought to you by the NRA.

No issues here though. keep packing John Wayne. Lol

I would rather be a hero than a zero. You think people carry guns because the NRA tells them too? Go back to libatard land with that bs.

Always an angle to try, so they don’t have to pay someone better wages. You know, like;
Pets allowed
Detention after 2-3 hours free
Pay on practical miles? What the hell does that mean anyway?
I love this one, 1099 biweekly pay
Bonus’ for clean level 1 inspection
Pay on percentage of invoice
Friendly dispatch, in the language of your choice
Free $10,000 life insurance. WOW.
Or, earn UP to $60,000-$80,000 a year. Which actually means $45,000.
Practical Miles is a term you city guys wouldn't be familiar with because you're hourly. It basically means you're paid hub miles. Why is that amazing? Well, because OTR drivers have been getting short paid by PC Miler for years. PC Miler uses the absolute shortest route, even if it's not practical for a truck to use that route.

And yet there are, in fact, statistics that show that the good guy with a gun keeps crime down in places CCW is permitted. It does happen, and does get reported locally pretty routinely. How do I know? I probably travel through more of the US than anyone else on this board, I hear the local news.

The issue is that only the bad guy with a gun gets reported nationally because politicians love to hate the part of the constitution meant to keep them in line. And even then it's very specific bad guys with guns; nobody talks about the shootings in Chicago outside of Chicago because it would force politicians to face that banning guns doesn't stop gun violence...it merely ensures that the bad guy with an illegal gun can more easily break the law in other ways without any resistance from those abiding the law. This is why mass shootings almost universally happen in places carrying weapons is banned. If you're the only one with a gun for the next ten minutes, then you have ten minutes of absolute power.

Not disputing you CF, but I would like to see their hub miles, compared to my own hub. Some of these companies advertising this method of pay aren’t always what they say they are.

Not sure how you figure... Perhaps your bias effects your search results. Just maybe?

If anything, "good guy with a gun" stopping/preventing further criminal activity would be among the most under-reported occurrences. Few will bother reporting if NO SHOTS are fired. Problem solved.

Still, there is lots of misinformation. Sticking with the agreed facts, MOST firearm deaths are *******. Not much any law will do to stop *******. Also, the highest rates of actual gun crimes exist in cities with the most strict gun laws.

Another fun fact, the long ago expired assault (style) rifle ban had no effect on gun deaths. More people are killed annually with knives than assault rifles.

And, no matter how you slice it, Firearms are used far more often defensively (to prevent crime) than offensively.

I’m still not seeing a relation. Let me breakdown your links:

1) DOJ link: I don’t see anything inside that links carrying a weapon to reducing crime??

2) Washington Post Link: I am not disputing the gun murder rate. I agree with you. Gun violent crime has gone down; however that does not mean carrying a weapon is the cause for reduction.

3) American Gun Facts: LOL on this site. So it states the highest homicides are in Honduras, El Salvador, etc. No mention of education level, poverty level, access to heath care??? Why not?

4) Wikipedia - really? Anyone can put garbage on this site. Not worth my time.

5) WyFF14 link- in your own link it discusses how guns have not been an effective crime deterrent??

I will continue to wait for someone to back up the claim. I will say it again “ a good guy with a gun is a myth sold to you by the NRA and gun manufacturers.”

If you don't move to Kennesaw Ga. you will not be required to own a gun, one of the safest towns in Ga, it has
been a law since 1982, head of the house in Kennesaw, must own a gun.
Stay out of Ga and don't worry yourself.

Do you guys even read about this stuff before posting? Snopes and several other sites quickly debunked this. You don’t have to own a gun in the city of Kennesaw.

Traveling to Kennesaw in a month. So will a gun owned be required? Asking for a friend.

With my limited knowledge, I should have know better than argue with an authority like yourself.
30 yr veteran of the Kennesaw police dept, Lt Craig Graydon said, although it is not enforced, it has been a city ordinance since 1982.

Actually, they make an attempt to debunk. As typical, they leave out quite a lot. The purpose of the law (burglaries rising in this Atlanta suburb), and then discount the effect after passage.

Snopes is NOT the unbiased fact checker as once assumed. But even they admit “In 1981, the year before the ordinance was adopted, Kennesaw recorded 55 house burglaries. The next year there were 26, and in 1985 only 11.”

Your reluctance to look at wikipedia was a missed opportunity to see the wild spread in the numbers claimed by both sides. THEN make a rational assessment.

Still doesn't speak to your confusion on concealed carry, and reduction in crime. "Good guy with a gun", you think is a myth.

Since you claim it to be a myth, how about YOU provide some stats. Even just one case where concealed carry, by law abiding citizens, had any negative effect.

5 key changes to HOS rule proposed by FMCSA

https://www.fleetowner.com/hos/5-ke...2379c7cf48f1bcc586ce7bf841d6&utm_source=26027

"The proposal, announced by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) on Aug. 14, is expected to be published in the Federal Register on Aug. 15, opening up a 45-day public comment period.

The proposed rulemaking includes expanding the short-haul air-mile radius from 100 to 150 air miles, extending the short-haul duty period from 12 to 14 hours, modifying the 30-minute rest break to only apply after 8 hours of driving, the creation of an “adverse driving” provision, the ability to stop the 14-hour clock, and options for drivers to split their time, commonly referred to as a split-sleeper-berth provision."

Automated Transmissions Shift Into High Gear
Manual No Longer Reigns Supreme in Class 8 Trucks Among Fleets, Drivers

https://www.ttnews.com/articles/automated-transmissions-shift-high-gear

"Because of AMTs’ market success, Eaton Cummins and Volvo don’t anticipate greater expansion into torque converter automatics. Likewise, NFI and Ozark are satisfied with the performance of their AMT, and don’t expect to switch to automatics.

Volvo does, however, anticipate the day is approaching when the company won’t manufacture manual transmissions anymore, Murickan said.

“I think this is about the last time we’ll be talking about manuals versus AMTs,” said NACFE’s Roeth, who added that “talk of AMTs versus automatics will continue.”"

Not how this works, bud.

I said “a good guy with a gun” incident rarely exist aka a myth. You guys are telling me it is happening all over the country. I cannot prove a negative.

The burden of proof is on you guys. It would be like you telling me Bigfoot exists and I am telling you Bigfoot is a myth. It is your job to prove it.
