I’m still going to be using it. Works great for me.

Not me. I always held my foot on the pedal with the cruise on. But I won’t use it going 65.
Same. My OnGuard is out of alignment and picks up vehicles to the right of me. So whenever I'm passing on the left or someone exits the highway in front of me, collision detection/avoidance wants to do it's thing.

The only good thing about setting off all the bells and whistles and feeling your brakes pumping on their own...saved me the cost of an energy drink.

Xpo drivers your not alone with these problems other companies electronics act the same , dectecting vehicle in next lane , overpass , cones etc , i had the experimental onguard 10 years ago that would totally lock up the brakes

There is a way to disable onguard. Then turn cruise on and off 3 times . You will have cruise without onGuard.
Also some other options: Drive a 15 year old Sterling. If pulling empties , take a city tractor. They've never been turned up to 70mph and have no fancy bells and whistles like radar and adaptive cruise control.

Simple answer. No.

The only reason to use the cruise is to get the extra speed. As stated. There are to many draw backs to the adaptive cruise control. Which had many of us holding the pedal down even while using it, mostly to override all the stupid computer braking. Large signs on the side of the road ? Hits the brakes. Get passed by a big truck ? Hits the brakes. Go under a bridge ? Hits the brakes. Some 4 wheel realizes they are late for their exit and jerks the wheel from the hammer across your nose at 90 mph ? Hits the brakes. Someone threw a plastic bag out the window and it's floating around like a ghost on the highway ? Hits the brakes.

Simply. The system is garbage. And the company does nothing to maintain it. So it's even worse than it actually is. If the truck had what I have in my Mazda. I'd use it all the time. I love the side sensors. That light up on the mirror. I like having a on the dash display of what the computer is seeing. And of course. It's calibrated and maintained properly. Because I am able to demand it be. I don't get ignored by the guy at the dealer when I tell him I want something fixed or adjusted on my personal vehicle. Getting XPO to fix something on the truck is difficult. They are swamped with broken crap in the shop and given no parts to do anything about it. And as it comes to the radar or the EOBR or the drive cam. They know nothing about any of it.

At my place in the mechanics break room they have a stack of training videos all VHS tapes.

I use it and will continue to. My system in the truck I driver works great.

We never had a problem getting any of those fixed at our shop, though we are never in a rush to fix the drive cam

The OnGuard system has known flaws and it has been reported to US Department of Transportation/Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. That being said, be careful and very aware on wet or snow covered roads so you won't have to explain why this system applied a "Hard Braking" with a false hazard detected and put your vehicle in an uncontrolled skid and possible crash. Here is one example of a catastrophic crash as a result of a malfunctioning OnGuard System. https://denver.cbslocal.com/2013/07/30/driver-blames-beer-truck-accident-on-trucks-technology/

It is a little bit comical that some guys feel that the cruise is too “unsafe” to use at 65, but were just fine with it at 70. It’s a luxury to have it available, and the company doesn’t care if you use it or not.

Again. I used the cruise at 70. With my foot holding down the pedal. To override any sudden and uncontrolled braking event. Especially when pulling doubles. Even short pulls here around the city. If I get to the freeway for a few miles. I am holding the pedal down after I bump it up.

I do not think its safe that's why as you have read many of us continued to hold the peddle down while using it to disable all the crap in that system .You like it that's fine I have no issue with that many of us do not like it . Just Voicing an opinion in an open Forum / I hope you can continue you to use it and it not do the things it has to other Drivers ! I for one will not use it My option !!
