Soo...you still don’t have any substantial evidence linking a good guy with a gun is preventing crime on a mass scale? Just or two stories and some anecdotal stories?

Do you honestly believe that education, access to health care, and poverty have no influence on crime? A good guy with a gun would stop it though!! Nice logic. We need to shift our focus people.

Your graph had El Salvador and Honduras as BAD countries!!

El Salvador is ranked 49th worst country for poverty. Ranked 114th worst in education.

Honduras is ranked 65th worst in poverty and 166th worst in education. Out of 175 countries! Geez, I wonder why these people want to flee.

Your graph shows Finland and Sweden as good countries!!! Let’s take a look:

Finland and Switzerland are in the top 20 with least amount of poverty. Finland is second best country with education. Second best in the world! Sweden is 15th best in education.

Should we even talk about healthcare??? Remember Finland and Sweden have least amount of poverty and they are the top educated countries...which happen to have socialized health care as well.

Your lovely graph some how skipped over these important facts.
Man, I hope you are not in leadership. Talk about deflection, all over the board. Changing topic, raising the bar. Putting words in one's mouth, then expecting an explanation based on your new narrative. Makes for a frustrating conversation.

1st you claim (theorize) that "a good guy with a gun stopping a bad guy with a gun" is a myth. NOW you want evidence of it "preventing Crime" on a "mass scale".

My right to self defense has nothing to do with preventing anything on a mass scale. Just me, my family, and anyone unable to defend themselves. Stopping the immediate threat, nothing more. Although the 2nd Amendment (wisdom) goes much further, in terms of purpose. Your theoretical wandering into poverty rates, education, and socialized heathcare is comical and shows a narrow agenda, lacking in understanding 2 key components in all of these conversations. Personal responsibility & Consequences.

Back on (The ORIGINAL) topic. The Myth... (or NOT) Here are just a couple quick search examples of actual self defense events. Just a few, in the past month.

Cool quick google search, bro!

Heck, I could perform a google search and probably pull numerous pages on a gun owner hurting someone else. Lol.

I want to see actual data from the FBI, CDC, Journal of Medicine, or anywhere unbiased that provides EVIDENCE on a mass level a good guy with a gun is preventing crime or stopping a bad guy with a gun.

AND...What is the difference between a good guy stopping a bad gun with a gun and a good guy with a gun stopping crime? Crime is crime right? Isn’t that the point of carrying all the time? For protection? Make you feel safe?

I am not deflecting anything. I’m calling out your BS gun propaganda charts. They claimed the gun was the main reason for low crime in those countries when in reality it is education, low poverty, and access to health care.

If it makes you feel safer though, go ahead and keep carrying, boys - oh, I mean men (deep voice) Lol. I’ve got no issue.

I will leave it at this and move on. I originally did not want to deflect this thread.

We need to get to the root cause of violence in America. Popping up our chest and telling everyone to carry is not the solution. Not the solution.

Focus must be placed immediately on education, reducing poverty, social media effects on people, and access to a premium socialized universal medicine for every American (ID providing) citizen. ((You saw that didn’t you?))

In closing,
I will continue to question the NRA and gun propaganda, and I hope you do to.

You are delusional if you think any of the organizations named are unbiased. Have you ever read an article in the Journal of Medicine that was in any way favorable towards guns? Also what in the world would the Center for Disease Control even have to do with guns? Hello, they study DISEASES. As to the FBI, when have they ever put out anything that was pro gun. Face it bias exists for any group you or anyone else might name. Most everyone has an agenda or point of view on the subject. I will remain a law abiding CC holder and hope I never need to use my legal right to do so. You go ahead and depend on running and hiding or the police to finally arrive. Lots of dead people made the same choice as you.

Good idea George, you continue questioning, I'll look for a good zero turn or goat joke, I think all the hat jokes have been used.

I think it was President Lyndon B. Johnson who declared war on poverty and since then Congress has spent $23 Trillion fighting this war only to have the poverty rate still hovering around 14%...as for education, since the early 1970s inflation-adjusted federal spending per pupil has quadrupled yet over that same period student performance has not improved...Social Security and Medicare are some of the biggest drivers of our National Debt...and for socialized healthcare, for every country you name that has shown success I can name ten that have either gone bankrupt trying to fund it or the wait is so long people are seeking medical attention in other countries while paying out of their own pockets!!

The bottom line is it has nothing to do with any of the fore mentioned talking points but rather RESPONSIBILITY and in most cases it’s SELF RESPONSIBILITY!!

Responsibility is a forgotten word in today’s society!! We teach our youth that they can have free education, free healthcare, guaranteed wages, and all of the benefits and possessions their grandparents and parents worked so damn hard to acquire and they can have it RIGHT NOW...as our country goes broke!!

I am saying it doesn’t exist. You claim it exist. Prove it.
And we did that. We showed 10 (all from July) before stopping due to constraints of time. Not because we ran out of July cases.

The bigger number would be the ones where "no shots were fired". There is typically no reason to file a report in such cases.

Oh, and Finland (the healtcare utopia of the left)? In case you missed it, Socializing health care is killing them. https://www.politico.eu/article/finlands-government-collapses-over-failed-health-care-reform/

Funny, not long ago, Venezuela was the darling of "free" healthcare advocates. No one wants to talk about Venezuela anymore, perhaps because they collapsed too.

Glad we're done. Wouldn't want the target to get moved yet again. That game gets pretty old, pretty fast.

Be safe, and TRY to stay focused...

Bernie is that you or are you Pocahontas? Who is going to pay for free healthcare and free college and all the other ::shit::?

Pittsburgh,PA. (Yahoo News)
The NTDC wrapped up last night with the winners in the 9 classes announced at the banquet. ATA spokesperson, Oolley Patel, said the course was tough, but the competition stepped up to the challenge. He added that a new class, Under the Bridge, was introduced this year. The class only had 3 Moldavian contestants in it from Coop Dispatch, Cedar Rapids. No trophy was awarded though, because all 3 hit the structure...

None of what you just said has any bearing on gun crime in the United States. Canada has socialized healthcare, yet people get shot and stabbed in Toronto all the time. Montreal has become the Canadian city with the highest number of rapes annually.

In Sweden, there are places UPS will not deliver to because the crime is so high. Stabbings got so bad in England that they prohibited unregistered knife ownership; the number of stabbings went up in response. In comparison, Switzerland has considerably fewer gun restrictions.

In Mexico, they blanket banned private ownership of firearms. Violent gun crime with illegally obtained firearms got so out of control that a friend of mine tells me there are places where everyone has an illegal gun just to protect themselves from the criminals.

Poverty does have an effect on the prominence of petty crime. But that doesn't change the fact that a would-be thief is going to be considerably less willing to attempt to rob someone if there's a chance he could be shot for his trouble. An excellent question would be why the cities with the largest populations of poor and homeless have both the strictest firearms restrictions and the highest crime rates. Not to get too political, but Democrats have perpetually run Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York City for decades and they all have the biggest wealth inequalities, highest crime rates and strictest firearms restrictions in the country. Maybe it's a big coincidence, but the statistics don't lie.

Apparently you must be a product of an antiquated education system. You know, when they taught HOW to think, rather than indoctrination into exactly WHAT to think.

Logic has no place in today's higher learning. Certainly not when it comes to social issues. That is one reason we simply must have Government schools and free college for everyone. <insert extreme sarcasm>

My guns have never harmed anyone. That being said, I don't live in the greatest area. There is a drug problem running rampant and i can't wait to get some seniority and get out of here. Home invasions happen regularly and we have a police department with about 50 sworn officers covering 5 townships. That means if somebody if trying to kick down my door, I'm lucky if the police are able to respond within 10 minutes.

I'm not giving up my right to protect myself or my family. No law is going to change that and I'm sure most of the country agrees with me.

Lastly, I don't give a damn about what goes on in Sweden or Canada. Those countries don't have the freedoms we have. It's an apples to oranges comparison. We're too populated and too free to do what they do.

Gun propaganda?! Why is there even a discussion about this? You either value and respect the constitution or you don’t. Gun ownership isn’t for the sole purpose of protecting ones family. The founders included that amendment to protect from a tyrannical and oppressive government. Do you know why we aren’t still ruled by Britain? Superior firepower. The guns the colonists used had a longer range and more accuracy than the redcoats. The founders feared another oppressive government ( either internal or external) ruling us and so provisioned every citizen with right to own and bear arms. To change this you libs are going to have to change the constitution.
The other argument that people use to demagogue gun ownership is “we have to do something about all these shootings”. I agree. What has changed in our society to cause people to have no respect for the value of human life? We never heard of this happening 50 years ago on the scale it is now. It is my opinion that as our culture becomes more godless we will see more senseless loss of life. Fathers have abdicated their God-given responsibility to train up their children To respect others and value their lives as you would your own. There are more aspects of this to explore, but I have work to do

Lots of wisdom right there. Too much to get into right now, but lack of respect, lack of consequences, and lack of personal responsibility all contribute. It all comes down to education (or lack thereof), both at home and in schools.
