I got hired at a new terminal opening up in the northeast, I was wondering what happens next. Like how long is orientation and what we do there and then a week of training what is going to happen then? Any information about the what to expect in the beginning would be great.

Don’t overthink the process and stress about it. They will just go over company policies in orientation and probably explain how DriveCam works and just watch some safety videos and go over company benefits. Training will consist of learning the scanners and just driving around with the trainer. One word of advice. Never mention the word union or be part of any organization attempt. Don’t trust anyone and walk away from union talk. They will have moles. It’s a good company with great benefits but they won’t tolerate union talk. This company is far from perfect but they are growing fast and you can make big money.

Vote YES !!

Ain’t happened brother! This is one smart company and pays good money to keep those grubby bastards out. They would never get the votes needed. Not in a million years!
That’s really sad that you have to resort to degrading a fellow driver. You really don’t want me to voice my opinion do you. Union or not, we all bust our butts to move freight. You don’t have a chip on your shoulder do you? Would you like one or two?

Probably so but there’s a better chance from the North than any where else. Would rather have the UAW

I’m not degrading the rank and file in that post. My complaint with the Teamsters is the leaders, especially Hoffa and Ernie. They are money grubbing bastards that make the BIG bucks off the members and have sold them out. I have nothing against the rank and file.

Anything would be better than the Teamsters
so the answer would be yes to your question. But having said that SAIA will never be organized. Just like Old Dominion, they are just too smart.

Did You get hired for the city or linehaul? If Linehaul, system or regular run?

Congratulations, you just won the lottery.
The company doesn't require much. All they ask is for you to show up, on time, pull your assignments safely, accurately, no mispulls, and timely. Say hello, goodbye, and get the hell out of the way, when you're done. Mind your own business, don't be a super trucker, and you can make a really nice living. Good luck.

Excellent and very true post. Listen to Drac and you can’t go wrong.

Glad you were not my boss, I've puled the wrong trailer a couple of times, once to Greensboro when I should have gone to Greenille, no excuse, just a dumbazz.
Boss said get your head out of your fanny, got paid an 8 hr mini for almost 400 miles, nope I didn't complain.

It can happen. Years ago,I did it myself. That's when I started double and triple checking trailer and dolly numbers and I still do multiple number checks, to this day. You go thru hundreds of the same o, same o and you miss something. I had a meet guy bring me a set, with the dollie latch, to the lead trailer, open. Lots of ordinary things can be overlooked, that's why I do multiple checks before I pull.

Had that happen to me also, how that guy made it to the meet site without dropping the rear.

I had a meet guy show up to the meet point with the cut lever on the dolly 75% out a few nites later he lost the rear and central disp already turned us and my dispatcher called me all nervous and i said not me reverse the turn the driver was always in a hurry with that doomed for diaster "turn and burn " attitude
