FedEx Freight | Clt--gbo Hubs

I've heard the rumor Salisbury being built as a hub terminal for sure. But if that happens I would assume that they would combine both terminals on the hub side.. but then what would CLT and GBO be then?
any truth to the rumors that CLT and GBO will be merging into one hub in Salisbury( exit 81 off I-85)?

I'm curious as to what would that mean for CLT on the road side? Would that create more runs or take away? I dont see the city side being affected much for CLT

The rumor is to build another hub in CLT (Salisbury, NC) to relieve pressure from both the current CLT and GBO centers. Some city and road operations would be pulled from both and moved to the new center, thus relieving pressure.

GBO’s road board isn’t that big but their city covers a pretty extensive area. CLT has 140+ man road board and a 100+ man city board which covers a very dense area. Both centers are at full capacity during hub operations.

I would speculate that a majority of the freight for a new center would be relocated from the current CLT center (city and road) with GBO relocating mainly city freight considering we already share every road destination. Both the current CLT and GBO centers would have to remain open and operational, it would be impossible to cover both from one mega center!!
Any and all movement from drivers would be done by seniority of course.

CLT City is around 120.

Speaking of hub rumors, has anyone heard about a second hub being added in Kansas City? Supposedly they have been interviewing people at KCY and SGF for dock supervisor and other manager positions at EKC when they are already staffed up. One of them specifically said he was told in the interview they are planning on turning EKC into a hub.

I’m having a hard time believing the company just spent millions turning KCY into a giant fancy super hub, only to turn around and give some of the volume to the dump across town.
