It happened yesterday at our barn. Two drivers terminated with severance, one dock worker given notice and a third driver reduced to dock worker at a $6/hr cut. I’d bet he’s burning the internet looking for a new job.

Well that sucks ! We need drivers desperately

In my terminal we just hired 4 drivers in the last 45 days. Also almost every driver that vias through has a trainer with them. Haven't heard anything about layoffs in Jersey. Hope it all works out for my fellow drivers taking a hit
The only one thats has changed any thing was XMI. Hell XHG is running a driving school right now. I know XBX, and XJP are short handed. I know some LH driver are getting tired of running there every night

There's not a Trucking Company around that I would move for. If I couldn't find anything else to do that I could substain my family, well that might be a different proposition.
You or I may or the next person , may not move but why not offer open positions to those that are losing their jobs AND they already have been trained?

XPO doesn't have to go crazy , but maybe offer a dollar or two more an hour ( or a couple more cents per mile ) for those brave souls that would take the offer.

Don't you think someone who would relocate and go all in would be one hard working never-say-die person?

They don’t care until the next driver shortage....

When they get the owner operator line haul system in place it won’t matter. You can lease to own your company spec tractors and be a small business owner. Yes!

Seems like everyone is doing it , twice this week I seen a white day cab pulling Saia sets on I-380 in Pa. I didn’t know they used purchased transportation....

The way XHG is in the safety news everyday. We are wondering if there are any drivers left out there. Must be good jobs in the area. And nothing left but nOObs.

I completely agree with your point on this.
The company should even pick up the relocation expenses for the affected drivers.
They do for the SCM's. Even help sell their homes. I was mearly stating my own personal position on this. I have enough confidence in myself to know that I would land on my feet somehow. Besides, You're talking to a guy who walked away from The mighty Con-way with Twenty Years invested.
I didn't loose much other than Vacation time.
I drive a nice truck get treated well , and I have confidence in our leadership. Insurance, 401-K is better and We are told that We are appreciated . Goes a long way!!

Con-way did those things. XPO does not. This company is going no where. You did well to get out quickly.

At your barn there is a lady dockworker that relocated ( her and her family ) from Charleston to go through the driver school. Once moved they told no schools scheduled.

So you may move for the opportunity and once you get there it's gone.

I pass that truck leaving Carlisle and just figured it was a Ryder truck. I have yet to see him in the yard while I’m hooking or breaking my set.

They have for as long as I can remember. Not much. May only be when necessary due to staffing. Never heard of anyone sitting home because of it. I’m not one to inquire though.
