XPO | Lay Off At Nnc

No way not under this fabulous Trump economy is this happening. You guys are spreading fake news
Well , it's a shift in focus...from drivers ( who are THE foundation of the business to dockworkers , customer service representatives , freight operations supervisors , and terminal managers )

In a lot of the layoff situations , XPO is bold enough to announce layoffs of drivers while simultaneously trying to hire dockworkers.

There's nothing wrong with trying to hire dockworkers ( since they are less costly ) that's good business. Where the problem lies is the inconsistency in how the layoffs and hirings are done.

No overall clear company policy. Will you make the cut? Get laid off? Transfer elsewhere? Or converted to a dockworker? Do you keep your service rank ( seniority ) if you are converted to a dockworker? How about your PTO? If business picks up , do you go back to your driving job at your previous spot? If you are a driver converted into a dockworker , do you hop in a truck to make a pick-up or delivery when you are asked? For far less money and possibly different O/T rules?

Finally , does service rank matter in the face of layoffs? Traditionally , it did. Now there are reports of drivers with more time with the company being let go as opposed to newer dockworkers. This may not be true , but would you doubt it with the way things have been going lately?

Ya, too bad there is nothing you can do about it, policy can change at any time at the discretion of management.

I don’t think Trump has anything to do with the situation xpo is in right now, from what I’m reading on the other forum’s you guys are the only ones laying off system wide. Maybe they know something others don’t & are trying to get ahead of the downturn?

I believe XPO is in trouble system wide and is in full panic mode. It can be seen on the faces of all of our supervisors.

End of month and everyone else I talked to today is completely swamped. All I hear out of the XPO chatter is we are letting drivers go. Which as many people have pointed out is really bad, considering we are losing drivers in favor of keeping dock hands. If we are losing that much freight. That we don't need drivers. What good are dock hands ?

Were swamped in the mid west. They sent out the no overtime email, tons of deliveries sitting.

We’re pumping out the overtime all the time most p&d divers are touching 60 hrs. Sometimes I think we work for different company than others here . We can’t get ahead.
My guess? Some vp was looking at the “ numbers’ and figured ot is out of control. Without understanding why. Typical.

This must be just a location thing. All the SIC around me are steady and some always busy. Even when all our LH guys are running we still have 1-3 vias coming through every night. We are not hiring at my place for any position that I know of. We have few of dinosaurs with one foot in the tar pit at my place, and if they left we could be hurting a little, but other than that we are steady with some days very busy. I have not heard anything about the no O/T, but the way some of the clock sucker are talking I believe they have cut it way down. My FOS told me that the O/B is staying the same it just the I/B has drop because we lost a big I/B only customer about 4 month ago.
I have also heard that the company has changed the freight flow. Like XMI Milton PA lost all Western freight, It is now being ship to LaSalle IL. were they are adding 100 doors to the building.

Do more with less in most places. I just am concerned it’s killing our service with customers. In the end customers satisfaction is what makes or breaks a company.

They are asking for 3 volunteers at XLF (Clearfield,PA) to be laid off.
I have to ask. Why is XLF a FAC????? What SIC runs XLF that doesn't go to XPB, XMI, or XAY. To me having a FAC there is just a waste of money. Not trying to be mean just asking

The stock broke 70 today so hopefully it continues to rise so Jacobs can get back to acquisition instead of focusing on cost cutting.
