FedEx Freight | Raises 2019

uhh

But you can buy it as a payroll deduction
Yeah, but that's at market price, right? I can go online and do that for $5.00, so I could save that.

Heck, what would it run them to let us buy it at a 15% discount? Or even options. Give us a few hundred/thousand options twice a year to buy at a certain price. It would give us incentive to stay and we'd build a nice egg. I'd take that over a huge raise anyday.

Not to mention it would bump the stock by creating the demand.

Once upon a time, when still AF, we did get a significant discount. We also got the stock at the lower price of plan start date vs end date. That, combined with the discount, made for a quite lucrative benefit.

Options? Hadn't considered that. Back in the day, Terminal Managers (as the were called), and above, were paid their bonuses in the form of options. I don't know if that is still the case, or not.

We need the 401k option to invest at least a percentage if not 100% outside of the few plans we are allowed to invest in. Outside of the set it and forget it Target ones we really only have 8 plans and a few bonds to throw in there. I know we have very low expense ratios in these but you can really offset that with higher returns. I currently have 2 funds in my Roth with low to reasonable expense ratios. YTD one has 34.38% return and the other 26% vs the highest option in our plan at 18%.

The FedEx plan opening might be a step in the right direction as you could buy the dip right now with a -34% return over the last year. I could accept a lower raise in exchange for a 100% match on the first 6%-10%. Let us use the new match outside of our plan into a Roth if we choose and still retain the "safe, low expense funds" we have.

Need to rename this thread "The Pie in the sky dream thread". Stock options for drivers...good luck. Some tech companies offer stock, not sure if anyone in transportation does. As for putting your 401 K into fedex stock, remember Enron...

Not a stock option. It's the same ESPP we have now, but we can buy at a discount. And not just drivers, every employee.

Never know. FedEx not matching is the reason I won't participate in the ESPP. If that stock takes a hit, only I lose. If FedEx matched 10-15% it wouldn't be a total loss, unless the stock died so I'd feel more comfortable with it.
Any stock investment has risk. Remember 10 years back when FedEx stock was $30? I don't own company stock, I prefer to spread my risk across broader indexes like the S&P 500. Has worked well for me.

I do not remember that lol, but I wasn't paying attention to the economy back then. I agree, I do the same. Why put all my eggs in one basket with FedEx? I'd rather put that money in an etf that has a history of performing well. A FedEx match would change my mind.

price history, February 2009, $43.21 Apologize for being a little off....Jetro

I was looking for the raise information and I seen a political debate lol So the Democrats hate you. You are are filthy diesel burning truck driver. Your melting the polar caps don’t ya know. Your eating those methane releasing cows don’t ya know. They can’t predict were a hurricane is going to hit 5 days out but they know what’s gonna happen in 30 years don’t ya know.

They want to scare us all into giving them power to tax the ::shit:: out of everyone. If u exhale carbon dioxide they can tax ur ass. If they control the health care they can control ur life.

I don’t think either party is fiscally responsible. No one wants to take away entitlement programs. They will fail and then they will scramble to deal with it.

Sweet potatoes this thread is doomed. The waiting for raise news continues......
Hey, it looks like they are "streamlining and cutting costs", elsewhere. Perhaps to pay for a significant increase in hourly/mileage compensation? :poke:

The position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer will be eliminated upon M.T. 3's retirement, AND FedEx will begin phasing out domestic partner and civil union partner health benefits, except where Sate law mandates. Not just "Freight".

Seems the above savings should/could fund at least another five (maybe 10?) cents/hour "Enterprise" wide. Stay tuned. <insert sarcasm>
