Well it really isn't our freight until its on our trucks. All it takes sometimes to to ask the shipper if you want us to handle that for you. For all you know we missed that pickup the day before and FXF showed up and the gave it to them.

I've had shippers ask me many times if they can use a FedEx , R&L , OD , Estes , Dayton Freight , etc. bill of lading. Usually they run out of paperwork from XPO and as long as the information is correct the pros go on the freight and the freight goes on the trailer.

I know of three carriers that have picked up XPO shipments lately. XPO Logistics, as a whole is a 3PL and that part of the company is looking to make good numbers too. So yes, that part is taking freight from the LTL or us. The LTL is still a stand alone company and the bastard child of BJ because we are asset heavy. I keep hoping being asset heavy will get us sold and away from this mess. I guess we’ll see.

What you say is true.

Nearly all of XPO's competitors have 3PL operations. And as much as XPO Logistics or Menlo in the past have sent freight with the lowest price carrier , other LTL's logistics companies have sent shipments with XPO.

That's tough when you get to a customer to pick up and find out XPO Logistics didn't choose XPO Freight for the shipment. Brutal.

Yes, I been in the same dock at the same time with the carriers and have them stick it in my face. So, what do you do or say?

Sometimes it goes XPO's way. ( where XPO gets freight routed by UPS or whatever ) Personally , I've never thought to try and rub something like that in another drivers face.

I wouldn't have anything to say if someone tried to rub it in to me - it's not that big of a deal to me.

Prices change in various lanes all the time. The “brokers” go for the best rate while giving their customer a set rate. I’m sure you guys picked up freight that was being billed to Fedex Trade. Ive picked up freight that were billed to XPO. I’ve delivered freight that was picked up from a XPO warehouse. I’ve picked up at a small UPS Supply Chain warehouse where it was me and Ground and Express as the only trucks at the dock..

Those other drivers are messing with ya....or they’re douches...:17142:

I understand what you are saying , but I was right next to the fedex guy , we were there at the same time, he said they have been doing that a lot it just says XPO logistics/ fedex on the paperwork

That’s not what I am talking about

If the 3rd party logistics division of XPO Logistics generates a pickup it will have 'XPO logistics' logo on it along with the carrier it is supposed to go on.

Much like I pick up a lot of Bill's that say JB Hunt on them. It's because JB Hunt logistics division put the pickup paperwork in.

I had 3 XPO Bills at a customer a few months back and took all 3 (they leave everything out for us).

One was supposed to go through FedEx freight (it said it on bill, I just assumed).

It's not a big deal.

You don’t understand how 3rd party logistics works. The customer where you saw FedEx picking the freight up may have XPO’s actual logistic division, and not your freightdivision handling all of their inbound and outbound traffic. They pretty much have every LTL companies rates in their computer system already. The computer may even choose the lowest price carrier and forward the pickup right to the company that will haul it.

Well , as to what you are talking about , that has happened to me ( or to the Holland driver ) also - just a few days ago. The Holland driver came in on a Wednesday and was all set to pick the freight up ( 22 pallets ) heading to a big terminal that they have in Indiana.

Now in this cade the shoe was on the other foot and the Holland driver was irritated that a load that went DIRECTLY to a major terminal of THEIRS was going XPO instead of with them. CH Robinson was the 3PL in this case.

Anyhow , I guess this is roughly what you are talking about ( except it wasn't Holland's logistics arm routing the freight or XPO's )

Hell , even at customers that have exclusive deals with XPO to be their one and only carrier ( and we have trailers spotted and we haul out one load after another ) you will see a competitor backed in. When I've asked what's that all about I'm told things like the customer doesn't want XPO to haul their freight and would rather pay to have another carrier haul it.

He just wanted to blow out early.

CH Robinson is notorious for calling in several carriers for the same shipment, first come first serve. All the Ltl companies should tell them to get lost, but we all know someone would try to benefit from everyone sticking together....

I had a pickup were the shipper clerk had the short cut on his wallpaper for every LTL carrier he used. When he got a shipment ready to go he would sit there and type the zip code into every carrier on computer. I have seen him do this. There were many times we did get a shipment because carrier XXXXX was $0.01 less or we got it because we were less. The company has no loyalty, it was all about price when they were pay the bill.

Hell we pickup cardboard boxes for FedEx ground all the time at my place and the delivery address is the FedEx ground faculty

Have dealt with them many time when I work TL. I hated hauling there loads sometime I would have rather sat. When I was in the city i didn't take there ::shit::.

Everybody hauls for just about every logistics company. We pick up for XPO same as we did for Menlo at their own warehouse. Some customers are picky, some it’s about who has the best price. At our warehouses all the LTL carriers pick with the carriers they want. Sometimes is routed by the company receiving the freight.
