ABF | Truck Driving/honky Tonk Songs

I feel good about starting this thread...now if seabreeze can post some of the songs mentioned..
Even though it is not a truck driving song...please post "I'm gonna hire a wine-o to decorate our home".
Who knows...the poor guy might have been a trucker!

Canarys right about the old AM DJs, Charlie Douglas, John Parker, Ralph Emery ,Dave Nemo, the list goes on and on, a lot, you young won't remember.
Not in Canary's class with Ride Of The Valkyrie, my ride would be more like, David Allen Coe's The Ride.
Mud and I post old stuff regulary on the video thread.

With all the time away from home that a lot of long haul truckers do, especially in the 1940-50-60 era, there were a lot of songs about infidelity, heartbreak, broken families, etc.

I would think it would be fun to learn some of your favorite songs on this subject.
I like the group "Alabama" and their song "Roll On- 18 wheeler-Roll On"

On the Honky Tonk side, I like "I'm Gonna Hire a Wine-O to Decorate our Home" by Lefty Frizell. (how do you think I got those 6Pak Abs?)

Help me with this one...gotta be a lotta heartbreak in the trucking business..either your wife running around on you or you running around on your wife..should be fun to hear the reactions!
Kenworth of my Dreams by Richard Shindell
Willin by Little Feat/Linda Ronstadt/The Band

I have always really liked 30000 pounds of bananas by Harry Chapin. But you have to have a twisted sense of humor to enjoy it.

Yep, WCKY Cin. any you yunguns old enough to remember Lee Moore, ( the coffe drinking night hawk) WWVA Wheeling W Va?

Where'd you retire out of? I worked in the Toledo breakbulk till the merger. Welcome aboard TB!

Sounds like another old man, he's got to be out of Cheryville, to remember all those Charlotte carriers from the past.
Yeah, they only ones I recognized firsthand were McLean, Associated & Branch. I've heard of the others but I think most were long gone by the time I got involved. I do miss Carolina though. I enjoyed my time with them. Loved those old three colored trucks. I also thought the few temperature controlled vans we had were neat because of the snow and ice they painted on the top of the letters.

Garth Brooks.."Pappa Loved Momma"... wife (a looker) cheating on him..."Papa's rig was buried in the local motel...the desk clerk said he saw it all real clear, he never hit the brakes while he was shiftin' gears...Now, that would have been somethin' to see!

As I've said before, my cuttin' and pastin' skills ain't so good or I would post it
