I drive a truck and choose who preforms a procedure on me or my wife. Guess that makes you dense or I’m rich. I seem to have to keep my job so I’m not rich. Take a guess what that makes you?
Lol.

You guys do know there are surgeons whom only perform on the mega rich, correct? You and I don’t get to see them.

You boys have a lot to learn...

Another thing to consider is what kind of treatment is being done.

Any football fans in here? Remember when Payton Manning flew to Europe to get operated on? Now why did he do that? Oh, it was because the procedure done was approved in Europe but not in the US.

There are many reasons others seek outside treatment. One might find themselves in a different country.

You act like this doesn’t happen in America. Where have you been?
Even though I totally disagree with socialized healthcare, a single payer system, etc, it seems I remember reading a while back about Farrah Fawcett traveling to Germany for experimental cancer treatments that weren’t approved in the U.S. at the time.

Slightly different scenario but some people (usually the mega rich) do travel outside the U.S. for healthcare.

Mr socialized medicine didn’t. B Sanders didn’t travel to Cuba or Russia for his recent medical procedure did he? He is rich too FYI

George, there are LOT of people who travel to other countries to seek CHEAPER options for various procedures. NOT because of superior services, but for MUCH cheaper prices. Why are they cheaper, GEORGE? Because your Government regulations, here in the US, drive price more than anything. So, many sacrifice safety for price.

No, he probably wouldn’t have made it had he traveled to another country seeing as how he needed two stints...on the other hand, shouldn’t he have waited in line just like everyone else or is it because of is uber rich elite status he got moved to the front of the line?? :scratchhead:

Oh, that’s right, we don’t have a single payer system....yet

I’ll say it over and over until we see change.

Every one of us is one major illness, one cancer, one major accident away from bankruptcy. EVEN with your current coverage. EVEN in our glorious first world country.

Until THAT changes I will not change my mind regarding socialized healthcare. MANY others feel the same way. It is a legitimate concern that needs addressed. I have seen ZERO on how to fix that.

So it’s not an issue of quality of care for you, but rather an issue of cost. Can you not manage your finances sufficient to the task of handling such an eventuality as cancer or disabling accident? Why is it my responsibility to pay for your lack of discipline or planning? That’s what socialized medicine is; one paying for another

So you are saving thousands a month in preparedness?

Props to you because millions of us are unable to.

I’d like to. Been looking until then myself and millions of others will continue to vote in favor of universal healthcare.
I would love to see universal healthcare...and we could pay for it, if we didn't need basic infrastructure, the military and social security. The problem with healthcare is the FDA. It requires impossible standards for approval of new drugs, which inflates the price of said. And then the consumer blames the pharmacy company for the price of the drug, instead of the company that researched it and tried to develop it.
