XPO | Amazon - What will their next move be?

They are a go between for Xpo. The market their services to Xpo as the ability to save them big money. There methods include drawing out process and wearing down people who have claims amongst others tactics. They are paid based on savings to Xpo.

My advice for anyone that has to deal with Matrix is to be diligent and prepared , keep records of everything, calls date and time and who you spoke to.
I know this advice is not needed for most of us but there is a good number of people who will give up in the long drawn out process and will be denied care due them.
Exactly right. I keep notes on all that. Good advice on dealing with all situations like that.

I had the misfortune of having to deal with MATRIX. They are a PAIN IN THE ASS! Their overly aggressive, adversarial attitude makes you want to reach in the phone and punch them in the mouth. They will lie to you (tell you they didn't get your paperwork and are going to deny your claim, and when I called the doctors office the girl told me they faxed everything MATRIX needed and have a fax confirmation) They told me the doctor said I could come back to work on light duty, I told caseworker "that's bull, the doctor told me THIS AFTERNOON I would be off work for 3 weeks until my follow up visit, and we'll decide then if you can go back to work". In those 3 weeks I was harassed by 4 different caseworkers on eleven different phone calls. I'm glad I kept a phone log. My honey and I went on the consumer affairs website to check on MATRIX, and guess what? There were about 1500 lawsuits against Matrix in the past few years. It is my belief that they try to **** you off to give up your claim...Another scumbag business.

I think it’s hard enough to recover from an injury/illness and deal with the reduction in income. Add all the matrix and people services BS and very little if any help from local management/HR and people do get worn down. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you have to be your own best advocate.

Matrix is the third party XPO uses for disability, FMLA, and worker’s compensation. Not easy or fun to deal with. Some say a nightmare. They don’t want to pay for anything and they go back and forth with the company (XPO) on who’s fault it (whatever “it”is) is. I’m currently out on STD and called People Services (another third party) today to find out when I might get paid for the last two weeks.. they gave me a case number and said someone will call me back. At least that’s what I think she said. It’s bad enough trying to pay bills on 60%of your base pay. Add in the waiting and wondering. You get the point. I’m glad I have some savings.
Well look at that we do learn something new every day. I sorry to hear guys have to go through this. I do agree keeping records on all contact is important. Now here is a thing I do when dealing with people services. I record it. Now I know some will say it is illegal, but its only illegal if you don't inform them. I went through a think a while back with a company. When I would call them the first word out of my mouth was "I am informing you that this call is being recorded for future reference" You have now informed them. I found these people act a lot different when they know they are being recorded. I had a lady at people service hang up on me in the middle of a call. No problem I call back and played the recording to her supervisor and then for the head of HR at XPO. Yes I know it sucks to have to go through this headache, but we now live in a world were to many people are trying to game the system. Hell even insurance companies are hiring PIs to follow clients just look it up on YouTube.

Remember this in 2020 this it what govt healthcare will look like.

I believe in order to lure in drivers with experience they will have to have a pretty good pay and benefit package.

Luring drivers with experience? Lmao! Amazon doesn't want to recruit experienced drivers, they want cheap, inexperienced drivers. They want the drivers that even XPO won't hire. They won't help you or us, they'll only harm us by helping depress thenwage ceiling.

Sign the cards and get a contract. Then, the only ‘wage ceiling’ you have to worry about is what you bargain for.

Do you mean the wage ceiling the union says I need to thank them for?

If you look at hourly pay rate you may have a point. The health and welfare and pension contribution and no insurance premium out of each check they are way better compensated than you. Take anywhere from 1.50 to 2.00 an hr off your pay rate for your poor insurance that you pay in premiums each week roughly.

Amazon will do what they have already done. Enter the market. Under cut the market and cripple the major players, eliminating some. And then take advantage.

Are there any of those Amazon daycabs in Columbus? The picture I posted was of Amazon tractors sitting in Chillicothe Ohio.

We haven't seen them pulling anything yet. But we see them shipping the tractors out. They distributing them. It's close. When it happens. It will be big.

Yes. I agree that whatever Amazon will do with THOUSANDS of brand new daycabs will be huge.

It will most likely disrupt the LTL industry. It might even kill off some of the lesser LTL companies. And it will happen sooner rather than later.

Some of the reasons people point to Amazon buying XPO are the same reasons they could want their own fleet. Moving freight from one hub to another. Or grabbing trailers from the rail yard or container storage.

they are running in NJ, they have 7 warehouses in Carteret NJ and they are always around. They have the contractors names on the bottom of the door. Probably same deal as they have with the vans- start your own business !

One thing I am certain of. It’s not any good for any of us. But there are plenty of companies that do similar things. ODW or JB Hunt. That don’t effect LTL very much. It’s more the way Amazon impacts businesses that we service than it is how Amazon impacts our business directly.

Amazon's brand-new tractors have hit the road as the megaretailer continues to threaten the trucking industry

Jose Aguilar, a truck driver, spotted an Amazon-branded tractor trailer at an Amazon fulfillment center in Manteca, California, a small city about 80 miles east of San Francisco. (That fulfillment center is near Stockton Metropolitan Airport, a regional airport whose Amazon partnership appears to be driving growth in cargo volumes.)

"We're welcoming new equipment to our transportation fleet," an Amazon spokesperson told Business Insider. "The Class 8 tractors are supporting our line-haul operations."
