XPO | Done!!!

Congrats.
I left last January.
Had no feelings either way when I left.
And I still don't.
No adjustment.
I'm just so happy NOT to go there anymore.
It only took me 32 years. There anyway.
I do not miss it one bit. Never will.
Good luck adjusting. It's easy.
Thx man ! I didn’t miss going to work at all today, no, not in the least little bit and I never will. My adjustment issue is just getting use to the idea of never being pressured or stressed on a p&d route ever again. Also no pressure at home anymore. For example I started pressuring my wife today about getting some things done. She told me to chill out you’ve got the rest of your life to get things done. Also I started cleaning the leaves in my yard and could have worked out there for that neglected yard for a week but after two hours I quit cause I thought to myself, I’ll do some more tomorrow and then the next day and the day after that. Just getting used to having all the time in the world to do my own thing is my adjustment issue. It’s a good adjustment issue though... I like it, I like it a lot.

Then one day you wake up and don't know what day of the week it is.
I had a little trouble adjusting. Good thing I have my phone to tell me the day of the week. Funny, you get to retirement and think life will be grand but in reality the struggle continues. It’s just different. My family and hobbies are my saving grace. You learn very quickly. That happiness is an “inside job.” Old habits died hard. At least for me. In the end as long as you have your health you have everything.

That is the part I like.
You have all the time ya need to do something.
Little today. Little tomorrow.
It's hard to do. But you have to get out of the "rush" mode.
Don't need it anymore.
I put stuff off all the time now. It's great. It gets done. Eventually.
I had an afternoon shift. 4-12. Dock. For a long time.
I keep those hours. I don't need to be up at 6-7am. I get up at 10 am.
I live in a very large metro area. In fact I'm 40-50 miles from it. But when I go into the city and come back out I just sit back and watch people driving like maniacs.
And leave my blinker on all the way. (not really). In the passing lane!

Copy that driver... or should I say ex driver, former driver, or retired driver.
I told our p&d driver who works almost 60 hours, sometimes more, weekly ‘ you may be making $2000 grand a week, but money isn’t everything, however your health is’.

It didn't take me no time to get out of the routine.
I guess I'm different. We all are. I was ready and practiced beforehand.
I fell right into doing nothing but I do keep up with what day it is. Lol.
I love not having any routine. It fits me well.
I know others may have a hard time with it.
Just gotta find those little things to do and pass the day.
Having five grandkids and having a home built kinda fills our time.
You'll find a new routine. Then forget the days.... Cause it won't matter.
Again.
Congratulations.
It's what we work so long and hard for. Enjoy!
K, will do... and thx for the encouraging words that I’ll get to love my new life the as time passes.

Live well and fully! Life will pass you by in the wink of an eye. In a New York minute!

Thx Trk 206. I am surely looking forward to settling in and just enjoying life to the hilt now that I’ve arrived in the club.
Will do in keeping you and the tb community updated on what’s going on with my future. Btw... I’ll might go back to work(not driving tractor trailer combinations), next Spring for a couple of years. May I’ll drive a package van for amazon prime that’s got a fulfillment center close by if I get bored. Time will tell.
Great idea! I have a sweet little part-time job as well! Keeps me active, which is important in retirement.

Exactly. That’s the Golden Egg...actually HAVING the time to do things at whatever pace you choose. Some today, some tomorrow, some the day after that. No worries, it gets completed. I do work part time at a job I found over a year ago, but it’s extremely flexible. I like that part too.

Vetran,
congrats for your decision , I am getting very close to pulling the pin Dec 1. I am 2 years younger , but I started
at age 20. Even tho physically I feel that I could stay , the aches and pains are starting tell me its time.
Stay healthy and just enjoy life.

Yeah...it is definitely time, past time actually, for me to be involved in working LTL freigh. I had a lift gate delivery 2 days before retiring that almost injured me. I’m soooooo glad to be done.
