Yellow | Yrc Announces New Next Day Texas

Right off Route 1 near the ford plant I can’t remember the road but it was very close buy,off of 287
The last time I was there was in 79 .I had a load of Igloo coolers. My guess is they closed a few years later.

Never knew that RB, thanks for that info. I drove TT for them during the holiday season rush in 1966, 67 and 68. Garfield and Hanover were the two distribution warehouses back then. In the later 1970's I was on the road for Maislin and used to yak on the CB with the 2 Guys drivers who worked out of a distribution warehouse near Albany.

“Ah yes. The ol’ Ford V8 in the little British car trick.”
When I was 13 I bought a 62 Simca- Poissy, with a Ford 60hp V8/ 3 on the tree, for $25.00. Drove it around the edge of my Dad's fields on his farm.

Later, at 15, I upgraded to a 1960 Corvair for $95.00. When the engine went out on the Corvair, my Dad found an engine for $60. We took the back wheels off the car, sat it on the ground, unbolted the engine, and carried the car off that engine and put the car on the other engine. Those were the days!!!!! Ralph Nader was wrong. I cornered all the time and never rolled over...

I used to do that with VW beetles and 1 fast back thrown in for good luck. :smilie93c peelout:

My cousin bought a Corvair with a turbo, called a Spyder, he loved that car.
About your 60hp Ford, in Midget racers, they were called (poor man's Offenhauser)
Duntov, the guy that made the 283 Corvette camshaft so hot, made a OHV conversion kit for the little 60 v8.
In the early 50s, that kit made 300hp+ from the 60 hp v8.

As for Nader, I sat in a meeting with him in the 60s, when he promised to do so much for truck drivers. it never materialized.

‘63 Corvair convertible, my first car. Would drive anyone anywhere all winter long, as long as the agreed the top was down. Never stuck, never towed. Had to sacrifice him for space and finances. I cried when he left.

I've never owned one, they say they are a fire hazard, but I've always liked the Pontiac Fiero.

Did your Corvair self-identify as male? Asking for a friend.
I have enjoyed an extensive stable of vehicles over the course of my driving experience. Each have had a name that reflected uniquely, their own personality.
From Maurice the Caprice to Booker T, my favorite MGBGT. Goldie, my Cadillac Fleetwood 62 and Nadine, my first of many MG’s. They each have had a personality that defines them individually.

My ‘65 D1200 identifies as Clementine, who am I to judge?

I’m familiar with your personality type. My Daughter has owned quite the “family” of named vehicles!

Of course, she comes by it naturally. My GTO was Billy, the Blue Goat, and, amongst others, I owned the “5 Tone”- a Dodge/Plymouth/Chrysler, mostly a Shadow/ Sundance, from the junkyard. Each bodypart was a different hue of some sort of blue....
