As of Friday the rest of the people (15 in the last week) that were on layoff have finally been called back. The question now is why? The word is that it's cheaper to work everybody 8 hours a day (plus pay health insurance) than it is to pay out the overtime for the same amount of work. :duh: The trailers that had been taken out of service are now being re-entered in to service. Very interesting events happening, what this all means is anyones guess?

Welcome back my friend. L.S.: popcorn:

Possibly just bringing them back from lay off hoping to create a "yes" vote or two?

As far as the overtime getting cut...........I hope that they force some of our guys into an anger management class before they cut their overtime, otherwise you may see the carnage from our terminal on the nightly news.:hide:

If you think about it isnt it cheaper to pay the overtime?

I dont care what you say its not right when another man is laid off to work ot bottom line ,you made it befor on 40 hrs but you cant now ,all bull s... !!!!!!

Hi Benny!!!
They called everyone back a while ago and hired about 10 (dont know the actual number but it is pretty close) and they want more. Heard from a road driver they want to hire about 20 more linehaul.
Seems like something is up. To me its more than a yes vote but I really cant figure out what other than the usual W.A.G. I know I personally am hoping for an end to the velocity system.
Supervisor said back when they called everyone back that corporate had a big push to use casuals on the dock and put drivers on the street. We have seen a drastic reduction in forced overtime of the driving cleanup shift since they hired.

I don't think that the more overtime vs. more employees plan is Corporate wide. Up here we lost two drivers, but some still working 60+. (I don't think that there even is a plan.)

I'm suprised you even have time to post with all that o/t you're workin. J/K..... My opinion, if they start putting drivers on the street picking up freight and work casuals on the dock (post 7 by Boilerpeddle) is that they want our numbers looking damn good for the sale of Holland. Please God Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have time to post while I'm at home. I'm always posting from the seat of my orange and white motel, while driving of course.(I wouldn't want to hinder my performance numbers ya know.) Someone made the comment about good luck replacing your 1,400.00 pay check if we close. Whyyyyyy.........I wouldn't even get out of bed each morning for only 1,400.00 per week.:biglaugh:

I've been praying for quite a while now. I'm guessing that God has some other plans now.
