Yes. People keep dropping trailers. So they have increased the severity of the event. Instead of hiring capable people or training people to be capable. They will just increase the turnover rate. It's just not high enough for Jacobs standards. More turnover improves the bottom line.

Agreed. Maintenance is also a huge issue, especially in freezing temperatures.

If they are easily swayed, either side could convince them. That's not the same as saying, "we expected them to vote no, so we're going to exclude them".
Gene , I’m planning on starting a go fund me page for you . You definitely have been traumatized at some point by the Teamsters. I think it’s time to admit your troubled :unconscious:
You need a hug.
So serious all the time . Relax ... breath .

And how would you know that? Unless you were directly involved.

FFS, it's public information. I feel like I say that a lot.

You can download a copy of the election notice that lists 6 excluded groups for your election.

It's about winning, not representation.

Your a driver on the west coast and you claim to no everything that went on at Xph.

I have made no such claim. Show me where I've said that.

Further, I have never stated my work location. I'm not sure what Truckingboards exemption lets you and Hollywoodz keep acting as though you know, but that is not public information.

That’s unfortunately all they have is to demean the poster.

It's a shame you deleted that personal attack before I could toss this statement back into your face. Oh well.

How could it be a personal attack we never met or have we?

So busy but yet you have time to hold this grudge. I’m over it . I suggest you move on for your health. No matter what happens going forward life goes on . I’m serious dude . Let it go .
I sorry for the comment.

How did you come up with the new name for the company? I’m trying to figure that out. I do like the sound of it though.

We are not subject to that policy, so that's why I wasn't aware of it.

Makes sense, I guess. I'm just surprised that you hadn't seen it somewhere by now. That was almost 4 months ago.

Because, in my case, at least, the 5th wheel was defective.

My understanding is that you can still get charged with a preventable if you knew or should have known the equipment wasn't working properly and choose to drive it anyway.

If I have to hit the 5th wheel that many times before it will latch, I'm not driving it today. Maybe the added penalty will encourage people to say no.

Let's be honest, unionization will never happen. I think I read where a carrier just decertified. The teamsters are a dying breed and most shippers today would rather avoid union carriers. Both remining large union LTL carriers are in wage reduction programs, job security is questionable at best and working conditions are better at non union carriers.
Go ahead and try but from what I remember didn't a few terminals vote in a union only to back off that desire?? Same occurred at FedEx Frt?????
I'd stay as far away from that pension as I could. That is going to end ugly.....
I usually don't say much on this thread unless I see an untrue statement. This post contains many. Most shippers don't care if you are union or not, they booked freight with your company because you were cheaper. NONE of the remaining THREE large union carriers are doing any wage reductions. The health insurance issue all by itself is worth it to stay union for me. I will take my contract and grievance machinery against any non union carrier's working conditions. Like I said I don't like to troll but I can't let untrue statements like that slide. Carry on, this is a great thread.

There’s a lot of non factual post here . Just hang around a couple minutes.

Rookie mistake. I was just happy to have a job after a year out of work. Nevertheless, there will be many drivers whose future with this company will be in the hands of the SRB. I'm not confident in their ability to be fair.

Since our certification , the number of dock workers we have has grown from a couple to a dozen . They come and go almost monthly and none of them here now were around when we certified. I would guess since there usually newer employees they could be more easily swayed by management in the process of decertification. My understanding is that Laredo had as many as 70 dock workers at the time of decertification. I also heard at least 20 of them were hired just recently. It would probably be safe to assume that there dock workers being mostly new employees played a big part in the results of the vote. I heard the driver as a group held strong.

That being said I wasn’t there . Maybe Gene can enlighten us more since he has an inside track and a unusual ability to navigate NLRB sight like a professional and come up with info.

Which particular pension fund are you referring to? The one EVERYBODY (the CSPF) uses and thinks is the bellwether for ALL the funds? There are PLENTY of Teamster Pension Funds that are doing quite well. In fact, the one I’m in (Western States) is 93% funded. As far as your claim of “most shippers today would rather avoid union carriers.” Do you have hard documentation of that? I won’t even touch on the working conditions issue. And let’s be clear...benefits at Union companies crush the nons. As with most things in life, it’s a choice. If those guys want representation, sign the cards. If not, then don’t sign. If it goes to a vote, then vote yes, or no. Again...a choice. Curious...have you spent time working for a union shop?

So if the union is so much better then non union, why is there only a couple of union ltls and why don't all the other companies vote to go union

That is a question only those fellows can answer. All I know is from my personal experience, which includes stints at both union and non. Without a doubt, my experiences at the union shops were far better. I can’t answer for those other people, that is up to them.
