Estes | Employee Morale And Equipment

What has happened to employee morale and equipment I have never seen so many people hate each other from mechanics, drivers to unapproachable 0 personalities tm's and management
Only problem I see his the crappy peoplenet units. Those will be replaced with the recently.purchased tablets, which I used recently ina newer tractor and work great.

I havent seen any of the issues you're talking about.

I think Estes goes out of their way to hire socially inept individuals across the spectrum of their operation. I have never in my life witnessed on such a broad scale, such a group of lethargic beings as I have at Estes express. Check still deposits Friday though.
Friday deposit , no complaint

Couple issues I have seen is that some dispatchers at central either don’t know how to use the dispatch app or just refuse to use it. It saves a little time by knowing what our next loads are going to be, especially extra board. This whole ELD change over has thrown a huge wrench into the works and seems someone in Richmond needs put their foot in the crack of peoplenet to fix it immediately. Same with international over these new 2019/2020 LT shake machines we have. Seems every week you can ask a shop about an issue and they will tell you it is being investigated by international as to whether they going fix and pay for it or ESTES is responsible. Other than those issues I am very happy here. Even though freight is slow we are still making more money than most and as far as I know we haven’t had anyone have to take lay off.

Dock position is a revolving door. Hub drivers should fill that void. Instead hub drivers sit in drivers room complaining about getting out late or waiting for hours. Estes should make hub drivers BE HUB DRIVERS.

I totally agree with that statement 110%. I haven’t been in this business as long as most but I have been in business for many years. I do not understand why a hub driver that bid on that run is not held to a predetermined amount of time on the dock. They are paid good money and many terminals will not enforce the dock work policy. I would maximize their time and ensure freight moves on time. I could care less how long they worked here or who they know. You walk on my dock you belong to me for how ever many hours the run requires. We use part time dock workers that come and go but the hub guys would definitely be made and need to be made to work. Alternatively they could bid off the run.

I keep telling myself that one day this company will stop buying International garbage, but they must get a tax writeoff on the downtime or something.

I see a lot of them who want that dock money and supervisor wont let them work seems like the supervisor must have labor cost numbers they want to keep lower

We have that problem at r&l, at least at my terminal. Linehaul guys might buddy up, but city guys aint. Don’t come into this job lookin to make friends. Two fellas that look like they tight are always one out of area pickup or weekend run given out of seniority order away from bein bitter enemies.

Most of the people I run into are either friendly or keep to themselves.Even the ones that keep to themselves are friendly if approached and talked to...However,my contacts are mostly concentrated on 017,044,and 026.

Its the pay scale & hours & being disrespected by shippers and that way at all trucking companies ..........

They get them cheap.

In one of the meetings they had last year or the year before someone asked a higher up(maybe Rob?) about the trucks we buy. He said they buy from whoever gives us the best deal and can get us the trucks the quickest.

They havent ordered any Kenworths in a few years because it was a year wait to have them delivered. We are hurting for tractors in a lot of places, cant wait that long.
