Estes | What do you Love about working here? What do you Hate about working here?

Not sure about other terminals, but of our 50+ drivers I only know of 2 or 3 that fit that description. Most guys were working somewhere or had something lined up within a few weeks.

During the wind down, our TM made phone calls to several LTL companies and had people from those companies come in and talk to everyone who wanted to listen about working for them.
TM has a soul

Could someone please explain to me what the “good ol boy system” is exactly lol. Seriously I’m curious cuz I work here and I’m new
Have no clue. Never heard of it but I know they like guys that do what they ask and don't complain. I've never made less than 85k since been here. 15 years

The “good ol boy system” is where certain employees suck up to / kiss butt of management in varying ways and therefore management gives these particular folks special treatment. Any non union outfit will thrive on this system and I’m confident it goes on at your terminal.

I still have buddies that work there and they said that it’s got better but still around

Love: 99.75 % of dispatchers understand that drivers enjoy home time like they do. They do their best to get you in. That’s ALWAYS been the Estes way. Big +

Hate: Why do schedule drivers have cut times?? Every terminal I’ve been to,,schedule guys are always 1 and 2 hrs past their gate time getting out. And no one in upper seems to care. That drives me nuts even though I’ve been on xtra board for 10 years. I wouldn’t have a schedule run. Love my xtra board.

In the last year Estes has focused a lot on profitability. That means making sure there is more freight on trailers. If that means leaving late then so be it , in their eyes. This also why more guys have been getting cut..Why send three drivers out with half empty trailers when you can stuff all of that on two sets. That's their logic. Makes business sense, but sucks when you leave late.

That is true. Some nights I'm out of there before my 30 minute break is over. Still wait on average around a hour but that's much better than it used to be. Now if only they could fix the craters in the yard.
