R&L | Record Shipments

We've not backed off at all in my area. Actually put four more city guys on over last two weeks. We have been getting new power in over the last several months. Actually is going to be a problem as we have 37 more tractors than spots with plug ins. They're trying to figure out where to install more

All the while competitors are laying off drivers and slowing down. R+L must be doing something right.
Not to be a Debbie downer, but if all the other carriers are laying off it usually has to do with the rates.... but if not congrats on a great day....

Just run some extension cords from your garage, Ted,to plug in the extra trucks.

I know they said they were adding doors to Grayling, Michigan terminal. I'm pretty familiar with Northern Michigan and the UP, and if you're adding capacity in that neck of the woods, something's going well.

Yrc has a secret terminal behind the bottle water plant in Stanwood. They have direct power cords to Alpena from there. But don’t tell big Dave....

Yup rate cutting 101. I don't work at r+l but one of my customer told me you guys were dong it at nearly half the cost. Good luck with that.
I'm hearing about the opposite at a few of my customers. As I said we ARE busy overall, but I have 1 customer we were completely shut out of based on rates by YRC and SAIA. Another regular customer is giving nearly everything to XPO. Of The customers I'm very busy with , 1 is based on our rates at the National Accounts level, 4 are based mostly on transit times and the reliability of timely pickup (they have tight p/u windows times and not all carriers get in at appropriate times due to the way others routes are set whereas I can hit window consistently and reliably so they tend to route us unless there's a huge disparity in rates). My remaining customers are still pretty evenly split with other LTLs. R&L does a lot of things in an odd manner but I've noticed they seem to be pretty proactive and quick on rate adjustments. When they have a lane they want to build volume it happens quickly then rates readjust in a few weeks and things return to normal. It's a very different animal than what it used to be. It seems as if they have daily or weekly insight into profitability of specific moves and lanes.

This post was for R+L drivers to basically say, good job. Those outside of R+L posting here, don't make it a pissing contest. Claims of low rates or the like aren't necessary and Im not coming to your carrier page to **** in your cornflakes. Keep it civil or you'll be removed.
