Anyone run to Gary, IN? Did the shop there go union or not? I had heard a rumor that they voted in the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers union but never got a confirmation.

Isn't Aurora's vote today?

Yes that’s what they told me there! They have a list of stuff drivers have to do and they won’t touch any lights and easier things.

Rising health insurance, I think you’re pension was frozen or done away with all together....I don’t work there but I can read, and your new owner seems to be anti driver - dockworker....
He anti labor if it cost him more .

I get a contribution to my 401k which has been doing good so far, yes I know there is risk in losing but there is risk in everyday life. What happens if you work where there is a pension and you die 10 years after working there, do you get anything from it? My family will get my 401k. Our owner can be anti driver and dock worker all he wants, he still has to have us. One day if they can replace us, and company that doesn't will be a dinosaur and be out of business. I contribute to a HSA, I put enough in there to cover my deductible. I'm not saying it's a perfect place to work but there are places way worse. The majority of drivers here see no value in unions or there would be more barns that would vote

I don't believe this is true. We have about a 50/50 split publically. There are absolutely (we have had private discussions) a few guys who are pro union but scared to say so out loud. There are some barns with a more pro mix and some with a more anti mix but I'd bet it's close to 50/50 across the board.

Bad analogy. YRC divers did to save a company that made bad investments in the 90’s . If your going to make statements like that please at least look into why they made concessions.
I know why the guys there took a hit on there pay and benefits, a year from now XPO could be in the same spot. The union couldn't stop them from making bad investments, just like they couldn't stop bad decisions here

We have made many concessions, 5% paycut in 2008 , lost defined benefits plan , lost make up money in 401k , paid sick days , newbies lost maximum amount of pto ....
we got back the pay cut from 2008, pensions are dinosaurs and they aren't coming back. If you look at other companies you'd have a hard time finding one the offers more pto time then we do. I don't like some of the things we lost but still have it pretty good when compared to other companies.

You should do a little research on pensions, not all are in bad shape. I’m in central Pennsylvania fund & its in great shape along with the Western plan(left coast). In 2018 ABF contributed $21,122.65 into my retirement, that’s $10.395 per hour. We are in the same plan as UPS parcel....I get 3 weeks vacation after 8 years, 5 sick days per year & 3 personal per year + all major holidays including Black Friday, overtime after 8 not 40 & work rules.... not bragging by any means just what I get for $63 per month (dues)

I never mentioned about pensions being in bad I said they are a dinosaur. Do you get to do what you want to with that $21,122.65? So if you quit tomorrow you take that with you? Xpo contributed $4,638.97 last year into my 401k. Yes not as much as yours but it's mine and I can invest it and grow it. And if I quit tomorrow it's still mine There aren't any companies that I'm aware of that's starting pension plans in this day and age. New hires here start accumulate 12 pto days their first year. Eight years we get 20 days. We also get overtime after 8 all holidays and black Friday paid and we don't pay $63 union due.

Well it’s quite obvious you don’t get the teamster magazine. Does your pto days include everything? Vacation, sick, personal all in one.

I don't care what they call it, sick day, vacation, pto. A day off with pay is a day off with pay no matter what you call it
