I guess it's happened to most of us company drivers, when fuel was rationed, I've had OO's ask to buy fuel, some wanted to buy tire chains.
We never carried spare tires, didn't get offers for one of those, never tempted, not worth your job.
Of course, this is a different scenario, I wouldn't hesitate!
 
When Halls Motor Transit closed,oh I remember it so well,after 18 yrs of faithful service.

Some drivers stole some of the salesman's cars to get their money,I never heard the rest of that story.
Also someone pulled all of the electrical for the tractor plug ins.
I only found that out later when Overnite Bought the terminal

Right after Red Star shut down back in 2004 they called asking drivers to work delivering freight left in the system. Those foolish enough to work had that money deducted from their WARN settlement. Those fools worked for nothing.

PIE kept 15 on the board in Charl after they closed, we were all paid every penny, don't know about other terminals.
