With Christmas just days away, Akron, Ohio-based carrier G.D.S. Express closed abruptly Tuesday, Dec. 17. The fleet shut off fuel cards for drivers still on the road Wednesday, Dec. 18, and office staff and drivers were reportedly not paid this week, according to truckers and others familiar with the company’s closure.

All kidding aside. If they shut off my fuel card, I would leave their truck parked illegal somewhere, with the mirrors on the ground,and find a way home.
 
Poor Management decisions & greed is may problem of all these companies going down , they always got money for waste on management & silly stuff like bonuses & Golf lessons & hair gel !!

There is a lot of waste in all business’s the bigger they are the worse it is.
Unfortunately the trucking industry has several factors that make it difficult to remain positive on cash flow. Truck load and LTL have some similar problems to overcome, such as fluctuations in fuel prices.
Past that there are many strikes against LTL with one of the worst being the human factor.

It’s also because of the foreign companies that have been allow to be started. I drive across Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. I would be willing to bet that at least 60% of the trucks going across there are the Mexicans and Canadians. When some of the PTS are in St. Louis in which I have personally seen myself, there are at least 3 guys in each truck. These cut rate companies are killing everyone. Deregulation started this mess.

The sole reason for Mexican carriers allowed to enter into the USA was Barak Obama. In the original NAFTA Agreement Bill Clinton allowed Mexican Carriers to enter the USA or the USA would give Mexico $2 BILLION in fines. Bush 43 refused to allow Mexican Carriers to enter the country due to safety standards that were not equal to FMCSA standards...
However, even after Obama promised Hoffa he would renegotiate NAFTA, Obama allowed unlimited Mexican Carriers to transit the USA. He did promise to insure they were safe & compliant but then Obama also promised Hope & Change.. Of course Obama never did a single thing to change NAFTA to help working people, Trump fixed it....
Yet another Democrats screwing working people...
But Unions still give 90% of political donators to Democrats. Unions must like what Democrats do for working people....
