XPO | Who Is Running Linehaul?

Yep. The numbers. I get it the economy is tight. I get it. But your not going to keep customers in a tight economy by sitting their freight. If this is the new plan, then be honest with your customers and tell them it’s an extra day service.
They added a extra day to our service area for anything over 50 miles of our terminal. They also won't run a load and empty in line haul. They will hold it until the next day and no customers have a clue

They did that system wide. For us is was done to minimize outside cartage. Hold the freight for a day and build a run out of two days freight.

Also was told that this is a tweak for G12 freight. In order to sell the service it has a 50 mile radius ( 80.47km ) Outside of the 50 mile circle from the service center no Guarantee before noon available.

Customers are starting to call in demanding freight be delivered. They are tracking the shipments. And many are tagging the shipments with chips so that they have full visibility. The race to the bottom continues.

Yep. Should have done that for every terminal. Everything outside 50 miles gets its own sic code. I think ours is XIP. Instead of the typical XCO. And all that freight has an extra day delivery window.

And for various reasons. Freight will still miss service. Some customers genuinely don't care. They don't even know stuff is coming. But others are literally shut down, dead in the water until we show up. And those are the ones we are going to lose more and more from and eventually lose all together.

I’m just not seeing this happening what’re I run. We still run empties when there isn’t freight one way and only leave freight behind when it isn’t due that day/appointment freight or we are over. Run half a trailer that isn’t cubed or heavy too. All freight moves off our outbound the day it’s picked up, unless an after hours pickup. We do miss some p/u in the city (I think) but that’s it.

You must be one of the only barns doing it from what I am reading on here .

Outbound FOS says linehaul instructs him to hold the loads and he fears for his job, maybe your FOS doesn't care if he gets fired

You should see the gymnastics that happen on inbound. FOS is only allowed to create a certain amount of runs.

Handheld will have one trip with two dollies and three 53'footers. All to comply with some make-believe maximum number of trips allowed for that day.

In somebody's mind this is saving money and better for the customers.

They only added one zone to my barn and it’s a town that is next to a town we go everyday. It doesn’t make any sense.

I don’t think so . Dalesr barn has drivers via thru to drop freight so can grap freight going to FAC whether full and half. No sense fencing trailer if a via is covering

And they won’t send a via for one trailer. It has to be a set or it sits.

Nope. Some program said it saves money. No one thought about it at all. And the customers are not a factor.
