I was told City bids for start time is once a year.
Anybody know when the City Drivers will rebid start time & Tractor??

Good managers will do twice, or more if needed. Lesser ones, good luck.

Typically one of the two bids per year includes tractor.

With city only bidding once a year for tractors, if a city driver goes from unassigned to a start time on the bid that doesn't include tractor bidding can he be forced to drive the left over scraps?

Do the left over scraps have mirrors, and visors at least?

Of course but shouldn't one have the same right as others? To have a list of tractors to choose from... I forgot this is FedEx where they create rules as they go.... it was only a question driver.. thanks

Great that's all I wanted to know.. if it was set in stone. I'll keep searching for tractors daily instead of letting these A******* try to force me into a tractor that THEY WANT TO.

The reason why they dont want to do a tractor bump bid is because "He doesn't want to make everyone move their stuff around all over again" AKA exactly how you worded it
Like Smoke said whenever they feel like it at our center.Key being if it benefits center manager’s chosen few it’s done immediately.

I have been here 25 years and I still have to drive the older trucks because I am on the extra board... I choose the ones with the least beeping noises.

You have to wait for the city tractor bid. Just curious how much seniority do have with a unassigned bid that you think you're going to get better than a scrap tractor anyway?. The 6 city unassigned at my barn are the bottom 6 on the city board. So guess what they drive?

Until the tractor bid

I run unassigned because of the extra road runs we had when things were GOOD... and also because I would come in earlier than if I had taken a start time most of the time.. I have 50 city guys under me and I'm taking a start time because of slow season being worse than last year.. the next 5 guys under me are all driving decent tractors that's the only reason why I asked..

Sounds more like a buddy buddy thing. Like I tell the other guys. ::shit:: rolls down hill . When I first started I was catching all the crap. Now nobody wants to put in the time. They want the good stuff. Our unassigne bid on trucks. If you got the time don't see why they don't let you bid on one.

Man I've tried to bring that point up at my barn about letting unassigned bid on tractors based on seniority instead of searching for one daily.. but I do not have enough people to 2nd me on it as with a lot of other things..

I guessing you have to wait for the next bid. With the road bidding twice a year now this includes tractor bidding for both boards at least at my terminal.

Same here. We rebid a lot but nobody can really say why. The usual thing they say is "this start time doesn't work". Since when? I thought that's why we don't bid routes. Miraculously, a guy bidding 9am can now start at 8.
Hear that our bottom of the board guy assigns tractors at start of shift and management just stands there wth
