"The banks have been “mandated to run four simultaneous auction processes” for XPO’s European transportation and supply chain units, its supply chain business in the Americas and the Asia-Pacific regions and the company’s North American transportation unit, excluding its less-than-truckload business, XPO Chief Executive Bradley Jacobs said in an interview.

“We may not sell all four, we may sell none,” said Mr. Jacobs.

Should all the businesses end up being sold, he said, “I would still be CEO, but I would be CEO of a fast-growing, pure-play LTL company with a lot of liquidity.”

If Bradley would sell all but LTL (former ConWay) then would buy FedEx Freight.

Doubt anyone would buy YRC.

Don’t work for either (or FXF for that matter). Couldn’t Mr Big Bucks buy, close & write off YRC? It would rid him of those pesky Teamsters & I’m sure they could figure out a way to lock in the customers in the process. :stirthepot:

There’s probably a Successor Clause in the YRC contract. Jacobs won’t go near YRC.

It looks like XPO Logstics is being sold again
Could shipping war with Walmart force Amazon to bid for FedEx?

For years Amazon has been eating everyone else’s lunch when it comes to e-commerce, but in 2019 the field of battle shifted as Walmart began to catch up in online shopping and Amazon’s advantage in next-day delivery began to erode. As improbable as it may sound, Amazon may face a unique dilemma that can only be solved by a radical move—the acquisition of FedEx.

Although FedEx is also a big company, it’s a mouse to Amazon’s lion. FedEx’s current market capitalization is just above $40 billion. Amazon was briefly worth $1 trillion last year, and its market cap is about $940 billion today. Whatever it might cost to buy FedEx (assuming no regulatory issues, which would be a brave assumption), it would be cheaper than building out an equivalent capability.

Well he would get them on the cheap, their stock below $3 per share. He bought Con-way at around $45 per share. As for the Successor Clause all he would have to do is buy it give them there WARN notice, lay everyone off and close the doors and let the shipper look for a new carrier. It happened every time an LTL company closed.

Well, if that’s his plan then what’s the point?

Exactly, what would he be buying? He couldn't get away from the debt they have, why do it?
Thats why you sit back and let it fail. Then pick up the pieces you want. Oh that's right the union can't afford to let them fail so they will bend over backwards for them
