SAIA | The Camera Situation Has Hit A New Low, Where Is The Bottom?

Take responsibility for your statement. Explain yourself. It's what adults do, anyway.

Maybe you should read it again ramrod since you obviously don’t understand what’s really happening around you. My statement is what it is. If your ok with illegal spying and your basic rights as an American to say what you want, than your an idiot. If that doesn’t sink in, I’m sorry for your mental disorder.

Wow. Guess you told me. As a liberal I fully support your right to be the obnoxious jerk. Just own it and take responsibility for it. Typical conservative who can't stand to be called out on boorishness. And I don't ever condone invasion of privacy or loss of rights. Projections, they are a thing.

Having fun with this yet. Big fancy words you used, you did pay attention at your comic con convention. No protests to attend? And get it right, it’s obnoxious ass, not jerk. Good talk nut bag!

For one you all know the cameras in the trucks are always recording video and sound. The cameras are not hidden they are out in the open. You have the knowledge they are there. Wire taping laws do not apply.
The company I work for just doesn't want you sticking you head out of the window yelling at the a-hole that caused the camera to record an event.

Bummer. Half the reason I became a driver is because I could curse out anyone, anytime, and no one would hear me. Now even that benefit is gone! :crybaby:

The new Lytx cameras have up to a 100 hour continual loop in the camera that can be accessed from a mobile phone. The alerts are clips sent to Lytx for review then forwarded. Safety then can ping the camera and view and download the loop. You can look it up on The Lytx website.

You all are way to paranoid. These cameras record on a loop. But only save recordings when YOU trigger it. Only saves 12-15 seconds. If you look at the Lytx website. It says the technology is not there for them to be remotely accessed. If you have an iPad. You can get the Lytx app and look at your videos everyday.

I recently drove a 2018 freightliner while my newer truck is in the shop and that camera went off at least 2-3 times a night but when I log onto the lytx site it says I no events assigned to me.

The older cameras. Those videos are not usually saved by Lytx if they review and don’t show anything. But at least you know it’s recording. I don’t like the newer cameras. If you don’t catch that red light scanning. You don’t know. But I have my app. So I check daily. I know if I have videos before my manager does. Last year I had 1 coaching and it was because I had food and steering wheel in one hand and other hand on my lap. Which they consider distracting. But it’s all good. I had a crash not my fault. Camera caught it. Never heard a word about it

So what you’re saying is, if I’m making a delivery at a customer and some one drives up and commits a crime in front of my camera, no one is able to go back and view that camera unless it’s triggered? Idk, I find that hard to believe.

It’s the truth. The only way your camera would record an event while parked is if someone ran into it. I know all the stories that go around about these cameras. But they are just event recorders when triggered. I wasn’t here when they installed these cameras and am not sure how they went about telling everybody about them. But all the research I’ve done and talking to safety and the TM. There is no remote access and they could care less to spy on people. They both said if they wanted to fire someone they would just do it. We are an at will company and can be let go any day for any reason

Then how does it get the 20 seconds before if it's not recording all of the time?

When the camera is on. Green light. It’s on and recording. But nothing is being saved. So when you trigger it. Pot hole or following distance, etc. it’s able to capture 8 seconds prior to trigger then 4 seconds after trigger. On the older camera when you turn the key off and you see the light turn red. It’s not recording anything. That just means there are events stored in the camera and will be downloaded. They only save recordings when you trigger them and then after that the video goes to Lytx. They review it and if nothing is there. Nobody at Saia sees it. Only if your doing something that violated Saia parameters then Saia will see it

The current cameras record a 72 hour constant internal loop that can be accessed with the right permissions from the portal. It only sends a clip when an incident is triggered. This is first hand information from the guy who runs the telematics for the fleet I currently work for, and Lytx is one of the two main providers we use. We have one agency using just a tracking device and another agency piloting two other companies that I’m also considering.
I have heard Saia is looking for someone to replace Vnomics and Lytx. There are several more advanced companies out there. One I’m looking at includes four cameras, AI in the forward and driver facing cameras, and facial recognition. The AI can determine if your smoking, yawning, nodding, using a BT, eating, etc... The forward facing reads street signs, construction zones, lane merges, etc...
The antiquated telematics Saia uses currently isn’t even scratching the surface.

Research it a little more before you keep talking out of your ass. You homework should include GPS Insite and Samsara.

Hey. I didn’t come on here with no research. I’ve talked to the Saia safety group. They can not just live access any camera. But if you feel better about yourself insulting me. That’s cool. I don’t take it personal. I expect it. Coming on an open forum. Just trying to help is all. But with an attitude like yours. I will happily keep my info to myself. Have a great day
